Bolton: We have no interest in Iraq’s well-being.

“What staggers me about this clip is Bolton’s point-blank view that the US had no responsibility to impose order after the invasion, and no responsibility for security within the country. Bolton actually says that the only error Bush really made was not giving the Iraqis ‘a copy of the Federalist papers and saying, “Good luck.”‘ Yes, he says he’s exaggerating for effect, but he is conveying the gist of the policy. The casual recklessness and arrogance of these people never cease to amaze. The world is theirs to play with — and the victims of predictable and predicted violence are left to help themselves.” Via Andrew Sullivan, viewable at link.

2. Then what's there excuse for staying there?
We know they don't care if our soldiers live or die but the excuse for staying as been we have to wait until the Iraqis "stand up so we can stand down" if we don't care why do we stay?

4. Doesn't matter whether we're interested or not.
We can work out war reparations later. Germany did. We have to get over the delusion that we are liberators. We are invaders. Invaders and murderers. Children taking our candy get shot for collaboration.

We don't get to work off our guilt by pretending we're still heroes. We're the villain. The only thing the villain can do that people will applaud is die or leave. Which choice do you prefer?

5. Sure
we're interested in the well-being of the Iraqis, just as we are interested in the well-being of the Saudis, or the Yemenis, or the Congolese, or the Canadians for that matter. But being interested does not mean we should occupy their country until they reach some abstract level of perfection as defined by us. The majority of Iraqis want us to leave, to get out. That's how they define "well-being," the absence of an occupying army.

6. While all other PNACers lie, there is always a touch of raw revelation
in what Bolton says. He may not be speaking just for himself?
