just a bit of wild speculation...
this sudden search for a "war czar" when supposedly bush has been the "decider" all this time...

we all know cheney is really calling the shots on the war, has been since the beginning - recall his comment "they can't stop us" -

you suppose cheney is about to go the way of rummy?

they want to get someone in place to tell bush when to breath, take a leak, etc. w/respect to the war, and ultimately take the fall for it, so they can get a political "heir apparent" into the VP slot

2. No way, they need a scapegoat because this is getting close to dick and bush
they need someone that they can hire today and fire next week before dick and bush have to answer for their sins

6. Yep, I think that's exactly what they're looking for, a scapegoat. And
what a surprise, there are no takers.

3. Tehre's no benfit to getting rid of Cheney at this point
If they were going to do that they shold have done it either right before or right after the 2004 election. They can't get a heir that way.

Actually though, if the Bushies really hate McCain, they might nominate him for VP - that would finish him off. Be hilarious too. But I doubt they will.

15. Apparently they deleted my original response to this thread
and any response you might have made. So allow me to reiterate. In my post above I was speaking from the Bushies point of view, not my own. Of course I personally am in favor of getting rid of Cheney and Bush if it can be accomplished. I also believe that some people might read a bit more carefully before they attack, but who am I to judge. TO each their own.

8. if they smell blood in the water around bush-
Edited on Mon Apr-16-07 11:57 AM by QuestionAll
replacing cheney NOW, with cheneyco's choice of 2008 candidate (mitt fudd or benito guliani) could give them a full year or more in the big chair if(when?) lil' boots takes a powder.

all of a sudden, we're facing an incumbant, and likely one with no iraq war blood on their hands.

12. my point exactly
the one thing we must NOT do is EVER think we have these guys on the ropes

and by "these guys" I do NOT mean bush and cheney

i mean THE MACHINE behind them

if THE MACHINE decides its latest figurehead(s) are toast, it will be busy working on the next; you can count on it.

It resurrected/reconstructed Nixon after Kennedy beat him and he failed in a bid for Ca Gov.

It fabricated ol' smilin jack RR and got him into the big chair.

It applied a full court press against Clinton from the moment he was nominated.

It dried out gwb, prepped him in a governorship and got HIM into the big chair.

The more successful the good guys are in dismantling this sham of an administration, the more THE MACHINE is going to be planning its next move. It's already written this gang who couldn't shoot straight off, but you can BET it still wants power.

It must be frustrating for a gang of multimillionaire CEO/Mafia-types who can pretty much do whatever the hell they want in life to have to come up with a figurehead who can get nearly elected close enough to steal the rest of the way. I bet plenty of them would love to be dictator, if only they could get the controls.

14. well, yes, they do
but they still have to deal with the likes of him, and I suspect would prefer to just play Patton. He carries out instructions, but is such a doofus he blows the lines and I am sure has them gnashing their teeth a lot of the time

If they didn't have to deal with these inconvenient elections every so often they would be sooooo much happier

5. I do think Cheney will leave, either for health reasons or because
he actually does drop dead from his poor health. They need to clean house before 2008.

10. The "health reasons" have been an available reason to get rid of Cheney for awhile now.
I would have thought they would have used it before this time. I am another who would like to see Bush and Cheney together and have Bush talk while Cheney drinks a glass of water at the same time.

9. No, they just want a figurehead to pile some of their shit on.
Too litle, too late, and WAY too much shit at this point.
So many rats have left the ship, they can't even find one
to take the job.

They're toast.

11. I think that Bush, "The Minuscule", is just tired of the war. I think that
it isn't fun for him anymore and he wants out. He can't quit the war, that would be "bad", but he just doesn't want to deal with it, so, hand it off to someone else and go biking...
