Rove: most proud of how the Bush administration "kept the people safe"

http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5ioxirxjjPGEhCijjapQ-e7LiZZegD9ATHEA00

<snip>

When asked about his proudest and least proud moments during his time in the White House, he said he was most proud of how the Bush administration "kept the people safe."

He said he was least proud that he and others didn't oppose Democrats more fervently in 2003 when they said the president lied about Iraq possessing weapons of mass destruction.

"We should have stood up and taken a two-by-four to them in a polite and respectful fashion," he said.

29. That was their freeby. Nobody said how big it could be.
Besides, even though Bush received a warning they did not give him the exact time, date, or place of the attack so what was he to do?

Not to mention the whole "Bewsh Kept us safe" crap is not only FALSE but a fallacy of cause and effect. But I'm sure Rove is more than smart enough to figure out why.

Or not.

11. Yeah, Bush was mostly on vacation, his tax cuts destroyed the economy, and they let 9/11 happen
Where were these blow hards when they should have been preventing the worst terrorist attack in human history?

"He said he was least proud that he and others didn't oppose Democrats more fervently in 2003 when they said the president lied
about Iraq possessing weapons of mass destruction."

bush's 2003 SOTU

The International Atomic Energy Agency confirmed in the 1990s that Saddam Hussein had an advanced nuclear weapons development program, had a design for a nuclear
weapon and was working on five different methods of enriching uranium for a bomb.

The British government has learned that Saddam Hussein recently sought significant quantities of uranium from Africa.

Our intelligence sources tell us that he has attempted to purchase high-strength aluminum tubes suitable for nuclear weapons production.

16. ...unless you were in the military, or the WTC on 9/11, or NO after Katrina...
What is he claiming now, that Saddam gave all his WMDs to ACORN?

And I see, he's joining in on the eliminationist rhetoric. Two-by-four indeed.

17. Oh Brother....
Kept the people safe huh....? We have corruptions throughout the border patrol, letting anyone in without checking what they might have with them as long as they pay up. I'm sorry but I don't exactly feel all warm and fuzzy about that. He had 6 years with a Republican majority and didn't take border patrol seriously and now it seems Obama will have to add that to his already full plate to fix.

And about the weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. What weapons of mass destruction? I believe they beat that horse to death repeatedly and yet there still haven't been any found. So did Bush lie? I believe he truly thought there was WMDs there based on bad information but the truth is that IRAQ didn't have anything to do with 9/11 and we shouldn't have gone there.

21. Welcome to DU
"I believe he truly thought there was WMDs there ..."

Bush was told in person and his speech writers were told that the CIA could not guarantee that the statement that
" ...... that Saddam Hussein recently sought significant quantities of uranium from Africa." was true. Matter of fact
a low level CIA person found a number of mistakes in the African Letter, that bush was citing as proof.

Shit-for- Brains was doing a heck of a job strumming his guitar and eating birthday cake while thousands suffered.

You call that safe, asshole? Well, yes, a lying criminal BushCo stooge like yourself probably would.

23. kept us safe from their Saudi friends?
Edited on Thu Sep-24-09 11:43 AM by yurbud
They sent an agent to pick up two of the 9/11 hijackers at LAX, had him set the two up in an apartment, and then he funneled them checks from the Saudi ambassador's wife. This same agent made constant phone calls to the Saudi embassy before the attack. All of this is according to FBI documents and is similar to the findings of the Joint Congressional Inquiry into 9/11.

I realize that Katrina was an "Act of God" but a properly administration would have made the preparations to minimize the loss of human lives.

27. That's the Big Lie
Every repuke schmuck in town has been repeating that since 2002, along with its sickening counterpart:

"Thank gawd that Al Gore wasn't president on 9-11."

I get them to shut up, right away, with:

"If Al Gore was president, there would have been no 9-11."

And their ugly, shit-filled heads just about explode.

Because... deep down... they know it's true.
