I wish to thank President Obama for refreshing and renewing at the UN today my overwhelming pride of country. The self-proclaimed "fellow Texan" (born in Connecticut and bred by the most extreme and ignorant and greedy people of this state) who was "elected president" before him did more to end democracy than any person/tyrant/disaster/ has ever done. Listening to our President's speech to the United Nations today actually gave me hope for the future of my country and the world.
2. I have to tell you that as a person who was around when
there were whites only movie theaters and fountains, we have made great strides. It still amazes me at how slow and amazingly unaware most of the young people of our country are of the amount of prejudice and real hatred that exists toward anyone that is different and how much this is tolerated.
4. i am forever thankful that I had a mother who taught me 50
years ago in a small town East Texas that all people had value and that no one should be treated less because of the color of his/her skin. Most can never know what a difference that made in the society I grew up in.
