It's a little weird. But, on the other hand, when I was a kid, we wrote letters to the president and said good things about him in composition papers. The Repubs though will call this a "madrassa," watch.

40. Heres more info:
Edited on Thu Sep-24-09 05:44 AM by twitomy
This was filmed around June 19, 2009 at the B. Bernice Young Elementary School in Burlington, NJ.

Lyrics
========
Mmm, mmm, mm!

Barack Hussein Obama
He said that all must lend a hand
To make this country strong again
Mmm, mmm, mm!

Barack Hussein Obama
He said we must be clear today
Equal work means equal pay
Mmm, mmm, mm!

Barack Hussein Obama
He said that we must take a stand
To make sure everyone gets a chance
Mmm, mmm, mm!

Barack Hussein Obama
He said Red, Yellow, Black or White
All are equal in his sight
Mmm, mmm, mm!

Barack Hussein Obama
Yes
Mmm, mmm, mm!

Barack Hussein Obama

segue to

Hello, Mr. President we honor you today!
For all your great accomplishments, we all say "hooray!"
Hooray Mr. President! You're number one!
The first Black American to lead this great na-TION!
Hooray, Mr. President something-something-some
A-something-something-something-some economy is number one again!
Hooray Mr. President, we're really proud of you!
And the same for all Americans the great Red White and Blue!
So something Mr. President we all just something-some,
So here's a hearty hip-hooray a-something-something-some!
Hip, hip hooray! (3x)

***********************************

"All Americans are proud of you"
"Your number one"
"The economy is number one again"
"Equal work means equal pay"
"All are equal in his sigh"
"For All your Great accomplishments"

Sorry, I think this is freakin creepy....

43. Who filmed it?
Is school in session there June 19th, or was this some sort of club or group using school space during the summer?

If school was in session, was this a teacher with her class during the day, or was it an after school club or group using school space?

If it was a school employee with kids during regular instructional hours, it's inappropriate. (Unless all parents of those kids signed permission.)

It would be good to know exactly what we are watching before passing judgment.

44. That information wasn't on the vid when I looked at it yesterday.
That's strange that the details appeared overnight after many people here asked about them, yet the vid was posted on Sept 6.

"This was filmed around June 19, 2009 at the B. Bernice Young Elementary School in Burlington, NJ." How do we know this? We don't. We have to trust that the person who uploaded this (and added the "scary" music for effect) is telling the truth - which after the manipulated Acorn footage BS, we all need to be dubious about this kind of thing.

When was the last day of school for this school? "Around June 19" seems like the end of the school year. Who shot the video? Who can authenticate the video? I'm afraid that without more details, this smells.

6. Next step:
report your parents for disloyal comments.

I'd prefer that our schools teach kids to be suspicious of politicians, any politician, rather than loyal to them.

I think we're better off with too much skepticism, than with unquestioning loyalty to the government.

As you are about our government. The YouTube uploader is a teabagger. He also has two versions of this video with one having background noise edited out. How come he has access to a clean audio track to do this?

Even if it is real, I don't see the big deal. Maybe they were doing some kind of Social Studies presentation about the life of our President?

Other than maybe questionable timing, am I missing something here?

I think the paranoia about how things might be perceived is getting a little out of hand. Let's not let the "American Taliban" win.

I think it was in KC. A well intentioned teacher working with some poor kids lets them be creative and sing about his upcoming visit. The right screamed bloody murder back then too. It was discussed on DU I believe. They must be desperate, pulling up this old chestnut and disguising it as news.

if that is a teacher and a class of students during the regular day. The adult doesn't seem bothered by someone taking a video.

If it is an after school club or group preparing a presentation in some community event, that the parents and kids want to participate in, that's okay.

First, why in God's name would Malkin link to every conservative flack on the block about this matter, and uh, second, forget that in 2006 school kids were instructed to make up a song praising FEMA and its work in the wake of Hurricane Katrina and then sing it directly to Laura Bush!

And speaking, er, writing of President Bush, what about the "Jesus Camp" where kids were worshiping a cardboard cutout of good old Number 43? Ah, didn't see it? I've got it right here for ya:
