There is a saying about the "wrath of a woman scorned"
Well I believe that America is beginning to awaken to the fact that it has been hoodwinked by the Republicans and especially the Bush* Administration. The more America awakens the more it evaluates what has been going on in America. The more it does this the madder it becomes. I believe the Imus thing is just the beginning. America has been scorned and the wrath is beginning to build and it may very well top that of any woman scorned.
A storm is a brewing and it does not bode well for Republicans and especially this Administration. I feel it and I do believe Rush Limbaugh is beginning to as well. I believe this whole incivility mode America has been engaging in is about to be confronted and put into it's place. I am optimistic for the first time in a decade. If America is to survive some humility is in order...just my $.02 worth anyway..

2. It may be your $.02 but it was very rich
I agree with you. I think this can be a turning point. I wish I can be as optimistic as you but I'm afraid that many people don't see the potential that could be accomplished because of Imus.

This moment can be used to finally hold the media accountable.

3. agreed
I think it started with the 2006 election posters saying "Republicans think you're stupid"

People are finally realizing that is exactly correct.

The defection of the faith-based initiative patsy was another

It is now snowballing - Big Time (I just love using that expression against them!)

8. they have to go back farther than that!
Barry may have actually been somewhat of a "compassionate conservative" but the neocon "no government is good government" mentality goes back to opposition to FDR's New Deal. Barry, too, wanted to gut social security.

4. Out here in the Midwest, I see it every day, people that thought bush
was some kind of wunderkind, have decided that he is the worst president this nation has ever seen. People who have voted nothing but GOP, as their families have done for generations, have seen the horrors that this little would be emperor can bring to a nation. For all of those who voted for this twit, all I can say to them, is "back i 1999, I told you this was a walking disaster, but all you could think about was a minor scandal involving a dress> Was this worth it?" I get people looking down at their shoes, wondering how they were duped so easily.

As for the RW talking heads on TV and radio, they are all ducking reality, they are terrified that a nation has awoken and is seeking to correct the wrongs done by this administration. They hate being under the microscope, and they will be seen as the pariah they have become.

6. I'll believe it when I see it.
Yes, there maybe some sort of change in the tone of discussion among the body politic as a result of Imus-gate, but I doubt that it will be far reaching of long lasting.

Here's why:

Negative stereotyping works when applied to political opponents. It gets votes. By demeaning in description, you demean the ideals. That has been going on for a long time in politics, and Rush and his ilk is just the latest fad. The only difference is found the the means by which such propaganda is sent out; radio, television, and now the internet. Because of these technologies, more are able to join in, thus more voices are heard, with an increasing shrillness, as they try to imitate those that have been successful in getting their point across.

And it's not confined to the "Right" either. Anybody notice how DU has changed lately?

I agree that if America is to survive as a place where civil discourse is the norm, then an increase in humility is in order, but will it happen? Time will tell.

My $.02

7. To borrow a phrase from the news, "the ugly came out."

And more and more can see it for what it is. IMO, it's a numbers game now; the advertisers have dropped out, but it takes longer to dump an elected President.

Great post!

9. I agree
It's just that I've been wondering what's taken people SO long to wake up.
It's like this...

Let's say that you walk home from work and you take the same route every day.
Three out of five days someone jumps out and kicks your ass or steals your money or punches you in the face or yells and screams insults at you.

Well, how long is it going to take you before you figure out there has got to be a better and safer route home?

America is sick of this shit.

I tell the right-wingers I know to enjoy this while it lasts, because their days are numbered.
Come 2008, they are done.
Then I add, they will never again see a Republican in the White House in their lifetimes.

Of course they laugh at me and dismiss me, but I can tell, they are truly worried and they are worried because they know I'm right.

This administration will be the death knell for the party.

Once the Monkey leaves the White House, and we really get to peek into the looking glass to see what they have done that has yet to be brought to light...it's over for them.
