If, by your death, you could bring about any event/condition/whatever - what would it be? In other
words, what would you be willing to die for?

Since this is a political board, do not list "saving my child's life" (that is a given) or other similar things. I am specifically looking to see what changes in our society people here are actually willing to give their lives for.

Universal health care?

Worldwide disarmament?

Environmental enforcement?

Marriage equality?

or, taking a different tact...

Removal of all republicons from public life (or further)?

Jailing of * administration officials and office-holders?

Expulsion from the US of "red" states?

An extremely progressive income tax structure?

Granted - this is an exercise in fantasy. Thus, do not limit your choices to what is probable or even possible.

24. A very dear friend contracted lung cancer while in college. . .
he never smoked, was too young to have been impacted by other people's smoke, and no one in his family or their close friends smoked either. He just got lung cancer. He withdrew from college and entered radiation therapy. The cancer was eventually driven into remission and he lived disease free for the next 20+ years. He got his degree in his late 30s and decided to pursue a PhD. Unfortunately, the radiation therapy eventually caught up to him, only this time it manifested as cancer in his liver. He accepted it stoically, reasoned he couldn't be bitter because he'd had 20-some years of wonderful life, years he'd never have had without the treatment (which was the best option at the time he received it). He passed away some 10 years ago.

When my Mother died, of lung cancer caused by smoking (though she'd quit more than a decade before she got ill), this friend patiently hounded me to quit smoking as well. It was always mañana, however, and I kept him pushed aside. One day though he handed me a piece of paper and said he'd made an appointment for me at the Schick Center for Smoking Cessation. I was astounded but went. This January, I'll celebrate 24 years smoke free. His act of kindness remains the nicest thing anyone has ever done for me with their clothes on.

But your mother's lung cancer might not have been caused by her smoking.

33. When my husband would ask me what I wanted for my birthday or any holiday I always answered that
I wanted him to quit smoking. The best gift he could give me is to be around for a long time. I never badgered him about it though, knowing that would not help him to stop doing it. He quit once for a year and then started again... ooh did i want to strangle him!! but he finally made up his mind to do it and went to the doctor. He took Chantix and has been smoke free for 20 weeks now. He is very proud of himself... it's a tough thing to kick. But I tell him how proud I am of him. And I am more than happy to have him buy a pack of gum a day if it will help him. He chews a lot of gum... LOL!

39. There is an 8 year old girl on our cancer board with lung
cancer. And no, her parents don't smoke. There are also several teens. Wake up folks. If all smoking was gone tomorrow lung cancer would still be in the top five to seven cancer killers. Lung cancer victims are victims just like breast cancer victims are. No difference.

23. Hadn't thought about it
I guess the easiest on me would be a massive morphine hit, go to sleep & step out of this body. But, that involves someone to administer the injection, or at least to set it up for me to do. Without involving anyone else? Bullet to the brain. Messy, but no one else need be involved in administering it. So no recrimminations fall on anyone else.

The diffusion of tension between the West and the Arab and Islamic world could prevent several worst case scenarios from becoming reality.

This is not about a utopian dream about ancient foes loving each other. It is about preventing the unthinkable from happening.
