China to Go on Buying Spree in US cities

Richard McGregor in Beijing for FT is reporting:

China is preparing a multi-billion-dollar buying mission to major American cities next month as part of a package of initiatives to reduce its swelling trade surplus and ease bilateral tensions with the US.

Although details have yet to be finalised, the buying mission is to be led by Ma Xiuhong, a vice-minister of commerce, and take in the cities of Atlanta, Chicago, San Francisco and Washington. Chinese businesses are expected to announce the purchase of $12bn in US agricultural and industrial goods as a result.

China's trade surplus hit a record high of $46bn in the first quarter, double the amount for the same period last year.

China not about to buy over-priced real estate, like the Japanese did in the '80's!

1. It would be nice if they buy up industries which put Americans back to work
...and not real estate deals which bails out commercial banks, hedge funds and speculators.

2. Could they PLEASE buy Dick, George & Karl?
We'd be happy to throw in a free abs exercise video, a mini air ionizer for the car, and this remarkable grapefruit slicer -- all at NO EXTRA COST.

Call our toll-free number right now and they'll also get Condi, Wolfie and Rummy through this one time special offer. Operators are standing by to take your order.

4. The Saudi's did a real estate buying spree in the '70 after the oil embargo
ended,
after they made their huge purchases.....the real estate market dropped like a rock ! They lost barrels of cash. ...after that incident hat "The Donald" took notice in the real estate market

Could be deja Vu
all over again

5. shrubCo. has undermined national security by ransacking and destroying
the economy - forcing business owners to have a fire sale on their assets. Sadly, no one in this country can buy them so we open the doors to the rest of the world.

At some point, 10 or 20 years down the road, the republic party will start to blame the democrats for this. They will begin running candidates on a platform of nationalism and economic independence. They will call for nationalizing the very civil, industrial and natural resources that we are selling off right now. They will simply take them back and kick out foreign owners and investors. Then the world war will begin.
