Gwen Ifil on Meet The Press
Not sure how many people are watching this here....but her words during this discussion really really got my attention. I think what she had to say about the Imus situation was profound. I hope someone puts it on Youtube.....

2. She's coming up... Good for Ifil, but she's got lots to make up for..
in other contexts herself (having been among the most offensive and unquestioning promoters of Bush talking points (and those of her best friend, Condi Rice). As right as she may be on the issue of hate speech, she's no model for journalistic ethics.

6. I must say...
I'm quite ignorant towards how she have been promoting their talking points.
But I had a true smile when I heard her speak.

3. Yes, I watched the first half of MTP. Gwen did very good.
She explained that the remarks against her by Inus were made 10+ years ago, and society has changed a lot since then.

5. She deserves plenty of dissin'
but not for being a woman or black as Imus probably thought....wretched right-wing shill that she is. Ugh.

7. Here's but one example of Gwen Ifill promoting GOP talking points
from Media Matters for America:

In a segment on Al Gore's global warming campaign, PBS' Gwen Ifill noted that "critics have called Gore 'alarmist,' " before airing a clip of an ad produced by the Competitive Enterprise Institute (CEI), which she identified only as a "Washington think tank." But Ifill did not mention that CEI is a conservative institution largely funded by the energy industry, which has a financial stake in opposing policies that seek to combat climate change.

Since Ifill's employer PBS has been propped up by the petroleum industry for years (think Mobil Masterpiece Theater) it is hard to imagine that she is free to be openly critical of them but a little journalistic integrity would be nice. IMO, PBS is not any less tainted from outside influences than the rest of the corporate media.
