Family Waiting For Son To Return From Iraq Since Thursday

The Hamel family from Bethel has been waiting for their son to arrive home from Iraq at the Portland International Jetport since Thursday morning.

Army Private First Class Matthew Hamel is a member of the 25th Airborne Division out of Alaska.
This trip home is a part of a two-week break from his eighteen month tour of duty.

The Hamels say they have no idea where their son is but that he is on his way home to the states.

she told me about it the other day. they do all their flying at night. not allowed any cell phones. and takes days to get home. her son called from the amarillo airport to be picked up because he never had the chance to call her to let her know where they are. but my question

here is another 18 month tour. as is my friends son. when they say the tours are a year and extended to 15 months i say what are you talking. the person i know has an 18 month tour as it is.
