Get real Obama
You really think racism is NOT the driving force behind rightwing resistance to your presidency?

US President Barack Obama does not believe current criticism of his policies is based on the colour of his skin, the White House has said.

If they silence you, they silence everyone else.

Fight back

1. Yah - black folks are so stupid, they don't know when white folks are being racist.

From "oversensitive" to idiot, in no time flat.

Without a response?

17. It's kind of funny - in a dark-humor way - after white folks institute the Jackie Robinson Rules...
We then turn on Obama or other black folks for not "fighting back" against racism. Genius.

I suppose this is a good place for the word "tragicomic".

18. Why is Obama denying race has nothing to do with the right 's rejection of his presidency?
Edited on Wed Sep-16-09 11:09 PM by mix
Obama knows what is happening, why then is he politically hemmed in on this issue?

20. You should stop the theatrics.
I know the risks that Obama has in addressing this issue, but there is a larger issue here of how far the right can be allowed to go.

Who will stand up to them. Clearly not you.

3. Nope. He's doing this right. If he said what Carter had said they'd eat him alive.
"they" meaning the MSM, the Right, and everyone els.

We have more important things to do than to have to handle what would become a distraction without productive results.

Let Carter, et al, speak to the issue and let the President handle health care, wars, the economy, the environment.

This isn't to say it isn't a very important matter.

It is to say that it's counterproductive for him to be sucked into it.

Edited on Wed Sep-16-09 10:50 PM by CakeGrrl
just as many of us expected.

The White House KNOWS how these asshats play, and they aren't taking the bait.

But I know YOU know that - I guess I should have posted directly to the OP. ;-)

7. Absolutely -
he's got other things to do.

Carter clearly took the lead and is willing to be the lightning rod on this one, and I love him even more for doing it.

The idea that these fuckers are acting with such impunity, so sure they can get away with it, disgusts me. They have to be called out on it at every step, and Jimmy Carter is a good and honest man who refuses to remain silent in the face of their disgusting hatred.

Let Obama be President, and not - oh, man, the horror! - get dragged into this.

You're absolutely right, SKP.....................

29. For now.
Watch the reaction Carter gets. See if it gets worse or better. It is getting out of hand, I just am not sure, at this point, if Obama calling it what it is will be productive. I expect at sometime in his presidency he will have to address it. The nuts are getting nuttier.

4. He doesn't have to "get real" ...
... he IS real. A real president, a real leader, and a real class act.

We've just survived eight years of a so-called "president" who spent his tenure in office "fighting back" over every slight, insult, and allegation - real or imagined.

I'll take the classy guy every time. He knows what's going on - that doesn't mean he has to get in the mud with the pigs.

11. Racism is just being used by the right wing machine to get the poor and the middle class to vote
Edited on Wed Sep-16-09 10:54 PM by applegrove
against their own best interests. It is a tool like homophobia or sexism. These things are just used by the Rush Limbaughs of the world to stir emotion in the base so they will go to protests hope that it will stop public policy or at least scare GOP members of congress and the senate into not participating in the debate or compromising. Racism is just a tool. One of many to keep things black and white so too speak. Like a dog you take to the park every day to walk the freeper/birthers/wingnuts have to have their hatred excercised every now and again and the GOP congressmen need to have the shit scared out of them every so often especially with such successful democratic programs like public health care are on the agenda.

15. So what do we blame the resistance of Georgey W's presidency?
So what do we blame the resistance to Georgey W's presidency?
So what do we blame the resistance to Clinton's presidency?
So what do we blame the resistance to The First W's presidency?
So what do we blame the resistance to Carter's presidency?

It is not as simple as "He's Black"... Otherwise why would there be all the signs against Nancy, because she is a women? But, yet they loved Palin?

and of course the president cannot say he believes it is racism... are you kidding me!

Perhaps there is some racist influence down south, but those are red states anyway.... In fact a few turned blue this time around.

28. I don't
Just look at Clinton. He took it much harder than Obama is. Look at Kerry's failed bid for the presidency.

Do I think the people protesting Obama are racist, absolutely, but I think ANY Democrat would be up against the current GOP machine.
