If you couldn't bring yourself to read all 1,000 + pages of HR3200,
the proposed House health bill, now you can listen to it if you have 24 spare hours to spend.

Thanks to Rachel Maddow for pointing it out. Load up the MP3 player and go about your business while you listen. Try not to doze off.

:boring: but so necessary to counter all the teabagging lies about it.

1. I'd prefer a translation.
As in a paragraph-by-paragraph, accurate, readable translation from legalese to simple English.

6. LOL - Hell no - but you will understand why I said that.
When a bill gets over a dozen pages, it is already owned by the lobbyists. I fully support healthcare reform, and hope at least SOMETHING goes through, but you know how it works. A thousand plus pages? How many subsidies for oil rigs are tucked into that?

The so called "credit card reform" bill is a prime example. The actual restrictions don't kick in until what, January or February? The only thing that went into play immediately was the change from 14 to 21 days on due dates and the 45 day notice for rate increases. I'm sure all of us have gotten the "We're sorry, but despite your outstanding payment history we are raising your interest rate to loan-shark level" letters. Congress is owned by big business, and that isn't a partisan thing - both parties are owned.

I have no intention of reading it in its current form because it will be changed so drastically before there's a chance of it passing that it would be like reading "Red Badge of Courage" to do a book report on "Gone With The Wind". And you know there are a good five or six hundred pages of last-minute amendments waiting in the wings.

The Congress critters don't read it either. They just vote the way the party leaders tell them to vote.
