9. They should let his constituents vote -- they're his bosses, they should be
able to fire him for this (as we'd be fired by our boss if we did such a thing).

19. Yes, I understand that - I meant a special vote to remove him from office if they
so desire. Like Californians recalled Gray Davis.

And now I feel guilty for rolling my eyes when I read your post! So hard to get intent across on a message board. Now that I understand, I'm smiling! :7

And welcome to DU! :hi:

26. No prob! On a serious note though, I don't think federal
representatives can be recalled - only impeached - even in states like CA with recalls for state officers/reps. And impeachment is solely within the realm of congress so the voters in SC would not be involved.

28. I'm sure you're right -- so I'll retract my original statement.

And then add that I hope Congress impeaches him!

25. sure, but if this isnt dealt with inside the chamber...
and an example set then this will be commonplace for congressmen and senators a like to do and say crap things to any president.

I say censure!

A hand slap most likely, but one IMO that needs to be done.

12. I'm still apoplectic that Larry Craig essentially skated through his debacle even
though that wasn't the same type of thing. These republicans seem to do their nasty deeds, outrage swirls around, but they just walk through it all and stay put. The furor eventually dies down. It infuriates me.

It'll be interesting to see what happens -- thanks!

18. You're welcome.
As one Rep. put it, this isn't the British Parliament.
A joint session has rules on conduct. If there isn't a rebuke for someone that violates the rules, sessions could turn into a mockery and free-for-all farce.
The film footage of this may be good material for Rob Miller to use in his campaign against Wilson.
Wilson dishonored the House, not to mention also embarrassing the
State of South Carolina.
The fallout is already coming in, in the form of boycotts of tourists and conventions. The state is really hurting economically as it is.
