* will visit Pope at the Vatican in June
Edited on Sat Apr-14-07 03:21 PM by DesertRat
Vatican spokesman Federico Lombardi said Bush will meet the Pope on June 9 or 10 after attending a Group of Eight summit in Germany.

Benedict, who was elected pope two years ago after the death of John Paul II, last week lamented the "continual slaughter" in Iraq . "Nothing positive comes from Iraq," he said in his Easter message.

A government source said on Thursday Bush may also see Prime Minister Romano Prodi during his trip to Rome.

Relations between the two countries have been strained since Prodi took office a year ago, replacing centre-right leader Silvio Berlusconi, a staunch U.S. ally.

1. Which pope did Shrub meet with last time? I can't remember
if it was John Paul or Benedict. I Do remember the pic that floated all around the net of the Pope obviously ignoring him!

Pope wishes first lady 'peaceful time' at Olympics

VATICAN CITY (AP) — Pope Benedict XVI met with Laura Bush in his private library on Thursday and wished the first lady "a peaceful time" at the upcoming Olympics in Torino, where she is heading the U.S. delegation.

"We're looking forward to the games," Mrs. Bush told the pope as she arrived with her daughter Barbara and the U.S. ambassador to the Holy See, Francis Rooney.

During the 20-minute meeting, Mrs. Bush gave Benedict a small silver bowl; the pope in turn gave the first lady and Barbara rosaries and Rooney a Vatican medal.

"We hope you will have a peaceful time," Benedict told the first lady as he warmly welcomed her and gestured for the three of them to join him at his desk.

The first lady wore a black suit and black lace mantilla, or head covering. Barbara, 24, wore a black skirt and black top and high-heeled black boots. ...

4. I remember when * met with John Paul II
It was right before the Iraq invasion. The Pope pleaded with him not to start a war. But we all know that the Decider does what he wants.
This is his first visit with Pope Benedict and with the new Prime Minister. These will be very uncomfortable meetings for *.

How many world leaders still support the chimp?

Ahhh, I can't think of any others. He's lost Great Britain, Mexico, Germany, Venezuela, Iran....
Hell, I think he's even lost the support of Saudi Arabia!

The Vatican is also a country. * wouldn't listen to Pope John Paul II, maybe Pope Benedict can somehow get through to him.

9. Republicans need the catholic vote
on abortion, birth control, and gays. Seems like a lot of their base is Catholic.
