Air America Dumps Sam Seder's Morning Show
Source: Watching the Watchers

The new owners of Air America Radio have demoted host Sam Seder to a Sunday timeslot, replacing his weekday morning show with an existing program from another syndicated network.

"This week will be the last week," Seder announced last night on his show's weblog. "Air America recently came out of Chapter 11 bankruptcy and the new management wants to go in a different direction."
Seder's being replaced on April 15 by Lionel, who airs on 92 stations syndicated by WOR Radio Networks and will be moving along with those affiliates. An attorney who worked as both a prosecutor and defense attorney in Florida before beginning his radio career in 1988, Lionel's the former host of Snap Judgment on Court TV and a drive-time morning program on WABC in New York.

The new host may be the first on Air America who does not call himself a liberal, though he takes liberal positions on many issues. His program's marketed in less political terms than the traditional fare at the network, which was founded to counter the right-wing dominance of talk radio. "Air America is about one thing: radio," he said in a network press release. "Not about ideology; but democracy."

6. What is the talk about the new owner's objections to Sam. Sam fan, here.
And the last thing I want is to listen to more Libertarian stuff (though I confess the hours are wrong for me as they became to be Sam's last schedule - I liked the 6-9p in the beginning).

7. Lionel has declared that he "hates liberals"
good-bye to AAR. Hopefully sam will slide over to NovaM, and Thom and Randi will vamoose as soon as possible.

11. Great. A right wing talk show host on AAR. Just what this country
needs after 25 years of nothing but conservative talk radio.

What many of us were saying after Mike Malloy was fired is coming true - AAR is slowly and insidiously turning into republican lite radio.

12.  Many thought the new management was going to save all .
It's all about money and what's now middle road politics and it sucks big time .

What do we have as liberals now , a few stations that run some AAR shows and most are not live .

I hear all about how cheap wealthy liberal are and they do not support liberal radio with funds . Also the corps who advertise are all the very same corps who profit from right wing support and spin and of course lies . They support our government it that's what it can be called .

It just continues on going down hill , what's next Randi ? Maybe , who the hell knows at this point .

AAR had a very good thing going and not all that long ago . I doubt Imus was the tip of the ice burg , he was either an expendable warning shot or being a host who did allow guests from both sides on his show , in an odd way .

15. Huge mistake. Without Malloy, Sam was my favorite AAR host....
I liked him best in the Majority Report slot. I like Rachel Maddow - she's one of the most intelligent and reasoned hosts around - but her show doesn't work as well in the evening. The 9-12 slot, opposite Stephanie Miller, seems to be a tough one.
