Does anyone else believe that if the Dems in congress don't get a decent bill out, then their chances are lessened in 2010?

Frankly, in sitting back and watching these people, I get the feeling almost each of them is basing their version of what health care bill he or she will support based upon their own re-election chances, instead of what is good for the largest majority of the American people.

And with this belief, it seems to me that the future of a Democratically controlled congress depends on the passage of a good bill but that those who are more focused on their own seat care less about staying in office, than getting a good bill passed. Which in itself is quite a contradiction of sorts.

Anyone else?

1. No bill, they lose it
any bill, perhaps they will lose the number of seats in midterms for the party controlling the WH.

but no bill, they can forget it.

As to how good or bad and how it relates... not sure

This said... if the Republicans don't make ANY gains, or even lose more seats, that is the death song for the GOP... for very similar reasons as the WHIGS. So yes 2010 is one of those elections. and quite frankly I am tired of each one being that critical.

2. It very well could. @006 & 08 were giving the Dems a shot. If
they screw it up, they will lose big time.

3. The wingers are already 'foaming at the mouth', they will vote in 2012 in record numbers.
If the Democrats piss off enough people with a shitty health care bill, they are going to lose seats. I think they are going to lose seats regardless, it's just a question of how many. Hey, it may well be that this moment is the apex of Democratic power. They should make good use of the next 16 months.

4. It's best for the Dems, our nation & the people needs to pass health care with a public option
Edited on Mon Sep-14-09 04:06 AM by GreenTea
Play it as you see it...We still desperately need health care for ALL with a strong public option.

Public Option health care for ALL will also help small businesses & our economy. It's more than necessary, and long, long over due!

Fuck the republicans and their insurance corporations bullshit hype.....They certainly don't think it matters. - Or do they?

Only profits for themselves and a few matters to them!

5. Agreed...
If they screw this one up we ALL may be more screwed than we would be with having no health care. Blue dogs, please, for everyone's sake... stop being assholes and go with the party! :'(
