Michigan Chamber Of Commerce Embraces Glenn Beck, Invites Him To Be A Keynote Speaker
On his Fox News show this past Wednesday, right-wing extremist Glenn Beck claimed, “The uber-left is in business with big business.” But next Tuesday, Beck is keynoting a U.S. Chamber of Commerce forum in Michigan sponsored by several major corporations, including AT&T, Comcast, and Dow Corning.

Although Beck’s race-baiting and McCarthyism have led a massive advertiser boycott of his Fox News program, the largest business lobby in the United States has chosen to embrace him as the “dinner keynote speaker” for the 2009 “Future Forum” at Michigan State University’s Kellog Forum on September 15th:

The top sponsors of the event are Comcast, AT&T, and Consumers Energy. AT&T is on the board of the Chamber of Commerce but has pulled its ads from Glenn Beck’s show. Other Chamber members who have stopped advertising on Beck — but are giving him a platform in Michigan — include Aegon, CVS, State Farm Insurance, and UPS.

the 2005 march just after katrina? they were standing on their front steps, and glaring at us as we walked by. glaring is too sweet, more like daggers from their eyes!

5. Of course they are. In our area, they openly and blatantly support repuke politicians and give
a shitload of money to them.

Dems get nothing.

I have pointed that out to my wife to urge her not to join the local or national Chamber.

9. Thanks for the tip. I will pass it on to her. In her little quilt shop, she has discovered a
batting (inside material for quilts) that is made from recycled plastic bottles. It is cheaper than cotton, holds up better, and outsells the traditional kind.

But, back to the point - the CoC is a bad (from my point of view) organization that has this myth of legitimacy about it. Maybe most business owners are repuke assholes, but there are some of us libs who also are trying to run a business (actually, she runs and I tote ). It's just that we get ignored and dismissed by the majority of the capitalists out there. Their arrogance in thinking (I know, pukes don't really think) that every businessperson is a racist, exploitative, anti-worker, cheating thug like themselves allows them to do the bad things that they do. That was one of the main reasons why I was hesitant for her to go into the business - having to deal with that type of individual and organization.

So far, we have avoided most of the CoC bullshit. I hope that luck continues.

Again, thanks for the lead.

10. she would do better allying herself with craft guilds, and online rings of craftspeople
most of us artisans don't feel anything comes of chamber of commerce sorts. quilt shows, quilter conferences, etc, make more sense!

i still prefer cotton, but green cotton! also wool batting is good, i have a lot of wool and a drum carder and when i am not carding for spinning, i card for felting, which makes good quilt batts too.
