At first I was too shocked at the enormity of it all to feel really angry, and also too absorbed in following all the newest developments. But this is a total insult to America's intelligence. The idea that we wouldn't be able to grasp the significance of the U.S. Attorney firing scandal and just meekly allow ourselves to be distracted by the next "Look over there!" is just too insulting for words.

Edited to add: I just looked at the e-mail at the TPM link and see the original context. Doesn't make it that much less insulting. It looks like they knew it was going to hit the fan as soon as Iglesias scheduled his press conference. That "one-day story" bit was just kind of hoping against hope that it would go away.

Edited a second time to add: I would just like to remind Mr. Domenici that the "third-rate burglary" at the Watergate Hotel was also a one-day story, once upon a time.
