RUN FOR SCHOOL BOARD!

This is just about the easiest job in politics for you to get elected to - especially if you are a parent or a teacher.

The only thing easier is getting elected to a water board (possibly harder to get on water boards out west though where water rights are an ACTUAL issue to the voting public.)

The average school board race here in Florida that wins needs between 20 and 50 thousand dollars raised and can be won door to door - grassroots style with a minimal staff.

The School Board is an excellent stepping stone to higher office and a lot of very important decisions get made by it - funding, new school construction, etc.

PLEASE, get up off your couch and go out and sign up to run for your kids school board.

If you don't a wing-nut will!

1. What? You want us to DO SOMETHING?
It's so much easier to sit in front of the computer and rant about how all the Democrats are "traitors" all day.

2. Better yet, get some friends and run as a SLATE.
It saves expenses since you only need one mailer, one set of ads, yard signs, etc.

Divvy up the district and walk to every single door. These races are won through boots on the ground, plus speaking at school events and anyplace else you can find an audience.

3. I don't recommend that - for a number of reasons.
It really doesn't save on sign costs, etc. and the ballot lists the candidates individually.

Plus if any one of your candidates f's up or it turns out they screwed a goat or something in their past, it will taint all three candidates.

I've never really seen this work although I've seen it tried a number of times.

Ultimately voters vote for individual candidates that they like and can relate to, not to "slates" which are an abstract concept beyond many average voters understanding.
