Cheney: "Well, it's just vital that people not forget 9/11"

http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2007/04/20070413-3.html

<snip>

Q We deeply appreciate your steadfastness in emphasizing the importance of this war on terrorism to our public.

THE VICE PRESIDENT: Well, it's just vital that people not forget 9/11. And the thing that happened on 9/11 is we began -- we adopted a whole new strategy and treated these terrorist attacks as, in effect, part of a war against the United States, which clearly they are. And it is a global problem. We've got people now, some in the Congress suggesting we shouldn't call it the global war on terror. Well, I don't know what else you'd call it. It's clearly global.

We had -- just this week there were attacks in Algeria and Morocco by al Qaeda, bombings that were aimed at killing innocent civilians. It is a global conflict, by anybody's measure. And it is clearly against some of the world's worst offenders, and Iraq is very much a part of that. It is, right now, the central front on that global conflict.

... asked some pertinent questions about his role before during and after 'The New Pearl Harbor'!

4. Vital for WHOM???
I haven't forgotten it- I also haven't forgotten that Osama is a Saudi, and that Saddam never EVER had anything to do with 9/11, and that the "leaders" of my nation have illegally attacked an innocent soverign nation by using its memory as an excuse.

Nope, I haven't forgotten for a moment what this is all about.

7. Tell those terrorists
to read the memo. They all should be in Iraq. Cheney says so. We're fighting them there so they don't have to fight them in Morocco, Algeria.

When will they read their emails?

10. 9/11 will always be remembered as THE alibi
used by the Bush/Cheney administration for waging a war of aggression against Iraq to gain control of their government and privatize their oil instead of: A great tragedy for those killed in a terrorist attack in NYC, their families, and the residents of that great city.

Hello Darth Cheney: Why didn't you attack Saudi Arabia instead of Iraq?

i'll never forget you, *, fox news, and RW hate radio into scaring my parents into voting for you twice.

i'll never forget how many iraqis we've killed, how many we've displaced, all because of *'s fear & psychological issues.

Edited on Fri Apr-13-07 05:11 PM by mcscajun
OR that they used it almost immediately to start stripping us of our freedoms and going after the wrong target in a war, Bush's War, built entirely on LIES.

I will never forget the images, the loss, the victims.

How can I? The last time I saw the towers was on my way to work on 9/11/2001, and they looked much like this, but seen from the NJ side and a bit farther away:

I got turned around and fled for home, and arrived just in time to see, on television, the North Tower's collapse.

I will never, ever forget.

Bas-TARDS!!! :grr:

downhill ever since. I truly believe that this despicable regime we have did this. They have no remorse and no compassion for the American people. From Katrina (as far as rebuilding and supporting the people of New Orleans) Iraq and Afghanistan, they just don't care.

Yes, Dick? Go on...

We know you began something on 9/11, all right.

You began removing the rights afforded us by the Constitution.

You began spying on Americans.

You began using lying as a public policy.

I can't wait until you begin your lengthy prison sentence.

23. Yes, don't forget 9/11, people
Remember how scared and confused you were? Remember the feelings of panic and hopelessness as the towers came down that awful morning? Remember your helpless tears? Because that's the feeling that Cheney and Bush and the rest of their crooked cabal want you to keep uppermost in your mind forever. A scared populace is one that can be fleeced. If you're confused and feeling helpless, that makes you easy pickings for a bunch of conmen. Go back to that feeling, because it makes it so much easier for them to get away with whatever they want to.

Sorry Crash Cart. We haven't been scared for a long time. Mostly we're pretty angry. And tired. And unlike you, who have profited so handsomely from this war without risking anything, we're grieving our losses of troops and treasure. In a just world, you'd meet Mussolini's fate.

You sure you want me to remember it and ahem, ask questions?

30. It wasn't "some people in Congress" who said it shouldn't be called the WOT, Dick
Publicly, it was your good bud (ha ha) Rumsfeld who started referring to it as "the global struggle against violent extremism" back in July 2005.

And then your boss (ha ha) Bush** said "The United States of America is engaged in a war against an extremist group of folks" in August 2006.

And let's not forget, Dick, that it was again your boss (ha ha) Bush** who started the renaming ball rolling by saying in 2004: "We actually misnamed the war on terror. It ought to be the Struggle Against Ideological Extremists Who Do Not Believe in Free Societies Who Happen to Use Terror as a Weapon to Try to Shake the Conscience of the Free World."

The rest of what you have to say is just more fear-mongering hooey, Dick, so I'll leave it at that.
