War on Terror looks like a fraud
Contrary to the "patriots" who try to use the deaths of our soldiers in Afghanistan to stifle debate on Canada's involvement in the War on Terror, I would say that as new evidence presents itself, we would indeed be cowards to ignore it simply because we've lost troops in the field and are therefore blindly committed to the mission.

And new evidence is piling up around us, arguably strong enough to declare the whole War on Terror an undeniable fraud.

Virtually ignored by mainstream media, the Americans showed their hand this year with the new Iraqi oil law, now making its way through Iraq's parliament.

The law -- which tens of thousands of Iraqis marched peacefully against on Monday when they called for the immediate expulsion of U.S. forces -- would transfer control of one of the largest oil reserves on the planet from Baghdad to Big Oil, delivering "the prize" at last that Vice-President Dick Cheney famously talked about in 1999 when he was CEO of Halliburton.

1. For 20 years now: Are the Sandinista terrorists on the Texas border yet? Ronnie rhetoric...
FROM: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x503712

Given ther current lies leading to war, an examination of past lies is in order. Please contribute past rhetoric that parallels the current propaganda effort.

One of my favorite whoppers is that the tiny nation of Nicaragua was an invasion threat to Texas. Reagan and George Bush deprived the nation and the world of sleep with rhetorical worries that the terrorist cabal controlling the government of Nicaraggua had to be militarily overthrown to prevent the invasion of Texas. REagan said Nicaragua, "is establishing a base camp for Cuban-Soviet aggression on the North American mainland."

Here is a speech quote of Ronald Reagan, the beloved former liar-in-chief:

"Believe me, the liberals in Washington know what's at stake in this election. They know that this may well be their last chance to steer American politics way over to the left. They know that if we Republicans do well this November it's going to permanently alter the political landscape. ...."

"You see, on holding down taxes and spending, on appointing tough judges, on keeping up our defenses and dealing firmly with the Soviets, the liberal Democrat leadership knows the fundamental differences between the Republican Party and the Democratic Party are beginning to sink in with the average voter. Take another issue that's come to the fore recently, an issue where partisan politics shouldn't even play a role. All of you know that a Communist government has taken over in Nicaragua. In addition to engaging in widespread repression of human rights, this government is establishing a base camp for Cuban-Soviet aggression on the North American mainland........

.....more...

======================================
Reagan placed "terrorist" into the American political lexicon with his "Sandinistas invading Texas" fairy tale. As his rhetoric reveals, that means anyone left of center, or political enemy in the Nixonioan sense!! It's that old-fashioned idiocy, "If you ain't with us, you are agin' US" all over again.

4. The truth seems so hard to get at,
With the MSM stacked against the American people. ANd I had also read somewhere not so long ago(sorry no link) , that we were paying all kinds of money to the "terrorist" groups to stay put in Iraq, to keep up the facade of the BS they are feeding us all, but when I heard that Bin Laden used to work for the CIA, I knew then and there it had to be a sham! It will be a great day for Americans when we can do something about the war criminals mascarading in the WH. They should burn in hell very slowly!

5. Ah, the Free Press of Canada. Wish we had one of those HERE.
This story is among the many considered out of bounds by the American Corporate TV Pravda.

7. It's a closely guarded secret in the free world
that we're waiting for the Iraqi parliament to ratify the oil contracts that turn over much of Iraq's wealth to Big Oil. Much of the in-fighting may be over who will work with BO and who won't. It was ironic that the oil worker's union protested over there. I'm not sure we could muster a comparable labor protest here. But anyway, we mustn't discuss this. Remember, the surge is working.
