Baucus To Fauc-Us With His Craptastic Senate Plan!
Baucus To Fauc-Us With His Craptastic Senate Plan!
by slinkerwink

Senator Max Baucus, the boy genius wonder of the Senate Finance Committee, and the leader of the Gang of Six, has caved in to EVERY SINGLE REPUBLICAN DEMAND, and hasn't even included the public option in his bill that he's releasing, as we all knew was going to happen. There's also no mention of co-operatives as reported in his "Fauc-Us" bill.

***** Mr. Baucus’s plan, expected to cost $850 billion to $900 billion over 10 years, would tax insurance companies on their most expensive health care policies. The hope is that employers would buy cheaper, less generous coverage for employees, thereby reducing the overuse of medical services.

This tax on insurance companies is a terrible idea because there's nothing preventing private insurers from passing the fee on to our insurance premiums. It also penalizes employers for providing good insurance policies to their employers, and instead encourages them to buy junk insurance policies.

......................

This bill from Senator Baucus is indeed a bill that's designed to fuck the middle-class with guaranteed profits going straight to private insurers such as Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, Humana, UnitedHealth, Cigna, and WellPoint. No wonder why private insurers see the proposed legislation coming out of the Senate Finance Committee as a "bonanza" for them.

1. What the ...
Who do Baucus and Nelson think they are the leaders of the Senate? Why is it that these two blue dogs think that they have the right to override what the other members of the Democratic Party want. I say they should be told that they either get with the program or get out of the way and shut up. Here's an idea for cutting Baucus out of the process but I don't know if it is possible. Baucus has control because the Senate is waiting for his committee to release their bill. Is it possible for the Democratic leadership to announce that his committee has to come up with a bill by a given date, hopefully in the immediate future, or the Senate will move on without them and go ahead and consider the bills that are ready? Even if Baucus' committee releases some bs bill at least it is now out of his hands and he loses any power he has to control the process.

2. Baucus is like that boy friend or girl friend you had in the 10th grade that just wouldn't go away

The Republicans must be getting really bored. "Yes I will think about going to the dance with you but my ankle hurts so I probably won't go".

Over and over they have told him to go fuck off.

The only thing left is to get Betty Lou to take him a note.

5. WTF? "thereby reducing the overuse of medical services"
Is this really what the issue is? Because here I am, silly me, thinking the issue was that there was inadequate access to affordable health care.

To quote Barney Frank: Mr. Baucus, "on what planet do you spend most of your time?"

This is quite possibly the worst Trojan Horse that the Republicans could have forced on this moron and he opened the gate wide to welcome it with open arms. His proposal is to provide crappier insurance at a higher cost to working people.

Reducing the overuse of medical services is code for "increasing co-pays and out-of-pocket fees" at the same time that employers realize savings on premiums that employees will never see. I'm sure this is what everyone had in mine when they asked for health care reform.

6. It would actually be better to do nothing at all than to pass the Baucus Bullshit Bill
And that statement alone tells you how bad this pile of shit really is.

7. This is the very same plan that has been offered by the Republican Party in
the past. In a life before Bush and DU, I often argued on another message board with Republican asshats on why we needed NHC now. This is exactly the plan that they liked instead of "socialized medicine". After all only capitalism fixes all our problems. :sarcasm: It's a sad day when those ideologies cross over the aisle into our Party. A pox on the Baucus. I hope his insurance finds a reason to deny him treatment for it.
