Poll question: Does one group ever have the right to reject the validity of another group being offended?
Edited on Sun Sep-06-09 11:49 PM by LostInAnomie
If one group views the complaints or offense taken by another group as being without merit, is it acceptable for them to be dismissive?

This applies to all groups: Republicans, Democrats, Christians, Muslims, Jews, Homosexuals, Women, African Americans, Latinos, Parents of Autistic Children, etc. If they are offended by something, is it acceptable for others to dismiss their outrage?

1. There is no right to not be offended in this country

The 1st Amendment practically guarantees that you will be offended at some time in your life.

Suck it up and move on.

Too many people try to turn being offended into something that requires judicial action.

3. Of course they have the absolute right to reject whatever they like. People are people.
People are different.

What constitutes "acceptable" varies greatly depending upon context and community or group standards.

There are no absolutes.
