Repubs - hate socialism? Then don't bother with any of these:
Edited on Sat Sep-05-09 11:54 AM by Deja Q
* roads
* medicare/medicaid
* buying ANYTHING from big corporations (they get lots of free money from the government)
* mailing ANYTHING via USPS
* using the internet (the GOVERNMENT developed it)
* Dating, marrying, conversing with, or anything else to do with another person in America: They pay into taxes that pay into all these things
* Watch television (government pays for the transmission lines, networks make the programs sponsored by corporations whose products and services YOU buy)
* ditto for radio (given how many commercials they throw in just to subsidize the DJ's multi-million wage for sitting there to bitch and gripe all morning about people being lazy... well, apart from whining what does he do...)
* put money in a bank
* take a loan from a bank
* anything to do with a bank
* go to a sports stadium, paid for by taxpayer dollars even though the players can be paid 7~9 digit salaries each (the owner must be making a lot more... yet he needs all our help so he can have his stadium... pity prices to watch the people run with a ball across the field haven't gone down...)

How long a list do people want? The fact is, without government, there would be NOTHING. Not even the corporations we, the taxpayers, bail out.

Here's a cure for obesity too: Pay people to run around with a ball. Corporations pay a select few, and half of them are vermin who otherwise think they're above the law to begin with, to run around with a ball. It's hardly "supply and demand" because supply could very well be 300 million people... plenty of supply to be sure...

2. Some of them want privatized cops -- so let's discuss those ramifications:
1. Only "profitable areas" will get any coverage. And, trust me, most of the people wanting privatized cops don't live in the most profitable of areas...

Oh dear, short list this time...

7. Agreed...but they seem to be singling health care out as "socialist"
while enjoying the benefits of many other "socialist" programs.

I can understand the argument (though I don't agree) that health care should not be administered (or paid for) by the government. However, it's silly to scream "socialism!" just on one issue.

6. I can add a few more
Social Security
Pension Benefit Guarantee Corporation. (protests their pensions from other Republicans)
Go fishing, hunting, camping, hiking etc. (most lakes were built in the FDR era as public works projects) The EPA which Republicans hate was responsible for cleaning up the waters and saving forest land but the NRA opposes most Democrats.
OSHA
MSHA

The amazing thing is most of the Republicans opposed nearly every one of them.
