The real problem is the the media, and the way they have misrepresented the facts
for some time now

After the past 9 years, why would we take anything they say as factual or even useful insight, when time and again they have been shown to be superficial at best, and intentionally dishonest at worst

1. That plus their consistent use of loaded language and negative characterization.
Kind of covert much of it, but all pervasive enough to be quite effective.

11. Responsible media consumers should always ask themselves this question:
Of the few dozen to few hundred DIFFERENT ways any one statement can be made, WHY is this particular statement being made in the manner that it is?

Word choices and syntax can make all of the difference in the world; this is why Pollsters can make millions creating precisely engineered products made to order for customers with an agenda.

13. NPR has broken my heart. I gave and gave and gave . . . I really believed in them. No more!
I watch PBS now, for the Lehrer report and Bill Moyers - I ended my cable TV 3 months ago, because even though I did not watch the pure CRAP on there, I resented financing it for others. I also listen to and download Air America Radio (Ron Reagan, Jr., Thom Hartmann, and Ron Kuby, amongst others) to my ipod and read a bunch of stuff online.

7. If we don't fix the media we have no chance of ever getting any relief
from the likes of todays :puke: party. Our media is the driving force in all that is bad for our country, without them none of this shit we're seeing today would be.

8. You're flat out wrong. The REAL problem is us LETTING THEM misrepresent the facts
We own the Bully Pulpit. We just don't know how to use it. We're like a flat footed pug boxer from some third tier town going up against Sonny Liston. Or Ali.

We can't punch, can't run, we're a bleeder, and have a glass jaw.

But we sure have lots of pictures showing our cool robe and trunks.

9. Yep, just one example -
Just a few minutes ago on CNN, they played an entire anti-healthcare rant from some scumbag GOP back-bencher, with no rebuttal from someone on our side.

With this kind of ability to drive the debate, the media has become a virtual fourth branch of government.

It is a real shame...in their chase for ratings, the media's portrayal of August will directly effect the final bill

Just found this quote...

It is pretty obvious that the debasement of the human mind caused by a constant flow of fraudulent advertising is no trivial thing. There is more than one way to conquer a country.

Raymond Chandler (1888-1959) U.S. writer of detective fiction.

Advertising's been helping us get used to a culture of hypocrisy and propaganda since... snake oil....

20. Yet we're supposed to feel sad as papers around the country fold.
I will buy and drink a bottle of good champaign when the WaPo and NYT close their doors.

At that point, the rest will "get it" and begin reporting actual news again.

21. The MSM gets it's revenue from ads, so they promote faux "controversy" to get viewers.
The MSM is a fucking joke. Thank God for Minnesota Public Radio and the BBC.

22. Our party is not effective in fighting back at their spin.
They easily could be, but they just don't do it. They shuffle the more outspoken voices from the party.
