On Hope.....
In my opinion, hope gets a really bad rap. Certainly hope alone, without action and awareness, can only get one so far.

On the other hand, sometimes hope is all we have.

I was thinking how so many diss those of us who use the word "hope" -- including here at DU. I clicked off of DU and was getting ready to turn off the TV (sounded muted) to completely focus on my work at hand, when I saw Joe Biden speaking. I turned on the volume to hear him say something that was what I needed to hear in the moment.

Having recently become acquainted with Samuel Smiles' work, Mr. Biden instantly got my attention. I have no idea what he was talking about which led to him reciting this quote.

I had not heard this particular quote before, so I just created the graphic below to accompany the words.

Another quote on hope by Mr. Smiles:

"Hope... is the companion of power, and the mother of success; for who so hopes has within him the gift of miracles."

Care to share your favorite quotes about hope?

:)

Where's a good place to upload pics (for use at DU) that reliably displays images regardless of browser?

Thanks. :)

On Edit: I've been uploading to picasa and copying URL location to here.

3. I use photobucket
There's another popular site, but can't recall it at the moment. Interesting FF displays/IE doesn't.
I'm using Opera. I saw that it is a .png image and enabled Opera to open .png; but did not help.
