So, I am demanding that this corrupt government, which has been incompetent from the get-go in terms of spelling out a health plan, to implement a public option. Even better! I want this incompetent, corrupt, corporate bought government to run single payer so that the government runs the entire thing!

why is President Obama listening to the Republicans at all! They lost! Why is President Obama letting Congress make the call? That is a mistake! If he really wanted a public option, he would just demand it. Bush did that! Yeah, Bush would just dictate to Congress what he wanted, and he ignored the Democrats! Why can't President Obama be like Bush! Do you think Bush would be negotiating with the Democrats? Hell No!!! Yet, why is President Obama talking to Olympia Snowe? What??? Olympia Snow is not exactly Michelle Bachmann? Screw you! All Republicans are scum, and deserve to be treated as much! Screw bipartisan outreach!!!

President Obama is a weak leader because he does not simply dictate and threaten to veto any plan without a public option or single payer! Oh, and I want President Obama to be more inclusive and listen, so long as though people agree with me!!! Anyone else who disagrees is a corrupt, corporate loving stooge."

Okay, seriously, is it possible to be so liberal, that you are actually a right wing, paranoid, government hating conservative? Or, maybe, the folks on free republic who also hate government involvement are really just liberals, because the anti-government hysteria is similar to what I see on this board. Indeed, it is hard to understand why the invective filled posts on this board would demand single payer or a public option after repeatedly attacking the Obama administration as corrupt or incompetent. Am I missing something? How does a real liberal or Democrat type up a long post ripping on the Democratic Party, the integrity of President Obama, and the competence of the Obama administration, then demand single payer or a public option run by these very same folks that they have attacked with such venom?

The anti-government paranoia just strikes me as amazingly similar to that of a freeper, except that such rants conclude with a demand for single payer or a public option.

I would think that a true liberal who really believed in the cause would not just rant, but would actually go out and demonstrate, call their Congressman, and actually believe that government can be a force for positive change, rather than an entity that cannot be trusted under any circumstances.

Thus, we are not going to get the Public Option or Single Payer that we deserve and need!

If you copy some of the paranoid anti-government posts from Free Republic, but change the ending with a shout out for single payer, you have a frequent DU post.

This is why I seriously do ask how some of the more paranoid types on this board can also demand single payer after a long thread attacking the competence and integrity of the Obama administration, the Democratic Party, and the federal government.

2. I live in New England....we used to have tons of liberal Republicans here

Almost a dozen Repubs voted for Medicare...back when there were more of the liberal kind.

They are a dying breed but saying Snowe and Bachmann are one in the same is just not true. Heck, at times Nelson, Conrad, and Baucus can be more conservative then Snowe can.

That being said, I don't think Obama should allow Snowe to be the one that frames the plan he wants passed.
