I imagine that that will be a fundamentally unacceptable answer to the prosecutor.

Contempt of Court. Jail time.

1. Me too. Even better, I'd like to hear Fitz tell Uncle Dick that he
either comes clean or he'll throw his ass in the slammer.

3. I'd like to see the tool use his two favorites: "You've crossed the LINE"
(said in threatening fashion) and of course, the quintessential favorite from the Senate floor: "Go fuck yourself!"

4. Hopefully fundamentally unacceptable to the presiding judge
but you know there will be an appeal
and then it goes to appellate
thence to the Supreme Court, where in a 5 to 4 split decision along partisan lines....

7. Why do so many mistakenly call Fitzgerald Fitzpatrick?
It happens way too often to be a coincidence, I've heard several pundits and MSM reporters do the same thing.

I know you didn't do it on purpose, but who were you thinking of?

19. Maybe it's a subconscious method of shorthand. You know
combining first name Patrick with last name Fitzgerald. You get Fitzpatrick.

I wonder how little Wolfie Blitzer felt after he reviewed the tapes of that pathetic interview. It would be nice to see him get ticked off at himself and decide it is high time to start behaving as a real journalist and challenge that kind of BS.

sanity will prevail, that leadership will be responsible, fair, and balanced. I have been waiting so long. But it gives me a sense of levity to read posts here at D.U. because you folks are awake. Can you imagine responding with comments like "fundamentally disagrees with his question" . That is a good one. Thanks for the thought.

24. I'm suspicious that a conflict with Iran might mitigate his ability to be a participant.
I fear a conflict with Iran may give Cheney's lawyers a 'national security' issue.

The Vice is needed in the war room therefore can't participate in your minor 'lie' quibbles.

This man has real work to do.

Wonder what the precedent would be????

Mind you, that I personally put NOTHING PAST THESE CRIMINALS.

30. It will be fascinating.
It's interesting to consider where any discussions will take place. It seems unlikely that Cheney would agree to appear 'live" in court, and take the witness stand. It is possible that he will hope to testify from an, uh, "undisclosed location," with Team Libby questioning him, and Mr. Fitzgerald doing cross. Judge Walton would need to be present, it seems. Perhaps they will empty the court, and do it that way.

Even people who used to know and like Cheney, and who viewed him as a moderately conservative republican, now recognize that he has been transformed by the past six years. He will not have an easy time answering Mr. Fitzgerald's questions, nor is he likely to be comfortable with Judge Walton's instructions.

One one hand, I find this delightful -- there has to be consequences for the terrible crimes that Cheney and Libby (among others) have participated in. On the other hand, I think it is sad that our country had reached a point where Dick Cheney could commit those crimes, and that thousands of human beings would die before anyone intervened.
