The replacement of Randi Rhodes with Thom Hartmann on Chapel Hill AM1360 - very glad.
Some months ago, when Randi left the airwaves, our local AM talk station AM 1360 WCHL (Stephanie followed by Ed) went with Thom Hartmann in the 3-5 slot. My schedule has changed and I am in the car quite often during his show. He comes across as really bright, full of great insights and ideas, and a pleasure to listen to (even when he has on the right wing nuts to do battle with them). Sounds like he has been around the block as well, with various roles in various companies. Though I sometimes liked Randi, the coarseness - and especially following the boisterous (but delightful) Big Ed - was a bit much.

What is the general view on Hartmann? He sounds like one of the more sane voices out there, right up there with Rachel M.

1. Now he is one of my faves.
Hal Sparks & Big Eddie are the best though...

2. I enjoy Thom. He's smart but not pedantic.
Occasionally he dabbles in woo woo stuff but not to an intolerable extent.

5. Hartmann is scary smart.
The guy has lived several lifetimes worth doing some very cool stuff around the world, and he's still in his 50s! He's pretty amazing.

we're lucky enough to get him live cause he lives here in Portland. :)

8. I like Thom . But, his show is intense and realistic so it's hard to listen to.
Lots of negative stuff about our side. It's too bad. But, it's real.

9. I like his lack of hypocrisy. if he sees something wrong on the Left
Tom speaks up about it.
He also treats dissenters with dignity and respect. He can present a differing point of view without belittling or demeaning the other person.

10. It was a great choice
But I wish I could get the station better in the Raleigh and Cary area. It's in and out on me all the time.

11. Yes, we live in North Raleigh and the signal is pretty weak - gets better as I approach RTP to work.
