Japan's New First Lady Says She Rode A UFO To Venus

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/09/02/miyuki-hatoyama-japans-ne_n_275311.html

Over the weekend, Japan elected a new prime minister, Yukio Hatoyama, and welcomed a new first lady, his wife, Miyuki. The Hatoyamas should make for an interesting couple-in-chief: he's nicknamed "The Alien" thanks to his unruly head of hair, frozen appearance, and large eyes. And, according to Reuters, Miyuki said she's been to outer space.

"While my body was asleep, I think my soul rode on a triangular-shaped UFO and went to Venus," Miyuki Hatoyama, the wife of premier-in-waiting Yukio Hatoyama, wrote in a book published last year.

"It was a very beautiful place and it was really green."

The account comes from a book Mrs. Hatoyama wrote entitled "Very Strange Things I've Encountered."

Her husband at the time (now ex) advised her that it was probably just a dream. But rest assured, Mrs. Hatoyama writes, the soon-to-be prime minister would be much more understanding: "My current husband has a different way of thinking...e would surely say 'Oh, that's great.'"

3. Not so fast . . .
On the UFO incident Dennis says, what do you want me to say? It was unidentified and it was flying and it was an object. I never said it was aliens or even from outer space.

15. Oh, get real!
Did that poster to whom you replied (someone I have on ignore) really come up with the old DK-UFO thing???

(Now you can see why that person has been on ignore for a while.)

2. Venus is not green, or life supporting
we KNOW that from probes.

But that was a nice dream nevertheless

9. Whereas
I find it annoying that if she had a dream of Christ speaking to her and telling her to do things, or worse talked to her while she was awake she would be completely sane and people would be lauding her for her spirituality.

A psychic journey to venus to me sounds pretty damned benign comparatively speaking. It is everything that religion is not: imaginative, whimsical, and open to scrutiny. We can actually ask the question "was it just a dream" or "was it just a bit of underdone potato" without some bloody holy rollers screaming about the danger of secularism. If her psychic journey was proven wrong no one will shriek about any unerrancy manifest in her vision.

Sorry this one just had me thinking a bit.

11. Well there are several things going on here
First off I do believe there is intelligent life somewhere on the Universe, not necessarily earth by the way... we humans have yet to prove our intelligence.

Second... having visions, whether religious or not is not a sign of insanity.

Third, I did not make the religious leap, you did.

But it is a fact that Venusian surface is close to 1000 degrees, and not quite amicable to life.

So what IF she did go on a trip to ANOTHER system where there is a green world? Given that xeno biology posits they must exist out there.

Of course that gets us into a whole different discussion including why would Aliens come to this world? I guess we are good for the Galactic tour or the anthro class, but that is a whole different discussion

18. Yes I did
It wasn't really in response to anything you said. I just thought with the happy darwin fish that you were sort of a fellow traveler....

So no. No attempt to argue, critique, contradict, compete, nay-say, figner point, or otherwise quarrel. Just some kind of stupid random point I had running through my head.

A random seague that should have been its own thread off of this topic, but I foolishly tagged at the end of someone elses.

14. It's about all you can say to the harmlessly delusional
We shouldn't be too righteous. We had a First Lady who consulted an astrologer when approving POTUS's travel schedule. That's not so harmless.

Woke up this morning with light in my eyes
And then realized it was still dark outside
It was a light coming down from the sky
I don't know who or why

Must be those strangers that come every night
Those saucer shaped lights put people uptight
Leave blue-green footprints that glow in the dark
I hope they get home all right

{Refrain}
Hey, Mr. Spaceman
Won't you please take me along
I won't do anything wrong
Hey, Mr. Spaceman
Won't you please take me along for a ride

Woke up this morning, I was feeling quite weird
Had flies in my beard, my toothpaste was smeared
Over my window, they'd written my name
Said, so long, we'll see you again

25. The liberals beat the conservatives - so they marginalize the the liberals
And don't be confused by the party called the "Liberal Democratic Party". They are the real conservatives in Japan. This story is gaining traction only because there is an organized effort to denigrate the party that just came to power.

News flash: The new prime ministers wife is not the prime minister.
