Dear Abby,
I received an e-mail request that I fly my flag on the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, I have some questions about this and thought you could help.
I have several American flags that were actually made in America. Is it ok to fly my Chinese made American flag? I hate to use the real ones because I think they are " just like land" and they aren't making any more of that, so I don't want them to get worn out.
Is it ok to fly my flag upside down?. Flying ones flag upside down is an international sign of distress recognized by all seafaring people. I'm afraid my neighbors would not understand this as they are mostly not seafaring folks. I think they might think I'm dyslexic.
Can I fly my flag at half staff on this day? If so can I fly it upside down at the same time? Again I'm afraid the neighbors will not understand.
I know that a flag flown at night should be illuminated. Does it have to be lit with electricity from fossil fuels or is It ok that I light it with 50% wind power and 50% Hydro-electric which is what I receive from my electric utility? I could run an extension cord from my neighbors house if fossil fuels are required. ( they already think I'm nuts anyway. I don't think they would refuse me a few watts of fossil fuel power).
If I fly my flag on 9/11 would it be an insult to the innocent people that we have extracted revenge from that had nothing to do with the 9/11 attacks?
If I fly my flag on 9/11 will Usama Bin Laden laugh at me, will Dick Cheney get all excited?
If I don't fly my flag on 9/11 will Chuck Norris kick my ass?
Will flying the flag on 9/11 make me a patriot?
Sept 11 is after Labor Day. Can I still be a Summer Soldier, if it's cloudy on that day can I still be a Sunshine Patriot?
And lastly, about the email, should I hit reply or reply all?
Yours Truly,
Betsy Ross
