5. I find value in it
While many might find it disrespectful, I think stuff like this gives a deeper, fuller understanding of the human being behind the political image. It allows me to meditate on all the challenges he faced in life, the grief he suffered, the mistakes he made, and how he fought and rose above them to become the man we're celebrating today.

Senator Kennedy is one of the most powerful examples of redemption in our democracy. He made mistakes deeper than any most of us will ever make and struggled to commit acts greater than most of us will ever do.

His story - his entire story - is inspiring for me. Hagiography has its place, but in knowing the darkness he faced and how he fought it, I find a lot of powerful lessons and a reminder that today is never too late to amend and move beyond whatever we might have done yesterday.

9. I have to agree
"Senator Kennedy is one of the most powerful examples of redemption in our democracy. He made mistakes deeper than any most of us will ever make and struggled to commit acts greater than most of us will ever do."

I think that really sums it up.

I have very few heroes, Ted kennedy was my hero ... precisely because he was able to do incredible things and be an amazing human being despite his very human flaws.

6. I don't think he ever had a chance to save her
I have read about a lot of car drownings over the years since that and I don't think I have ever seen cases where one person managed to save others in the car. If I have it has been the rare exception rather than the rule. It's kind of a comic book vision. A person submerged, air supply compromised, flooded with adrenaline, is supposed to do anything but struggle for life? The more I thnk about it the more unlikely it seems. The real deal about that story was who he was and that he was off with a girl for what were assumed to be carnal purposes. And also that he knew it looked bad and that he thought about that. But as for being responsible for her death, no I don't think so.

7. No one knows the real situation.
If the windows were open and water was flooding in, I would do my best to get out fast. If the windows were closed and the car was taking on water slowly I would try to get both of us out. It all depends on the situation and no one knows what they would actually do under extreme circumstances.

11. You could always change the channel, or turn it off. I think most
folks have a bigger picture of Kennedy than some of the tabloid type programs would indicate.
