Republican National Committee Reaches New, Horrifying Low
via AlterNet's PEEK:

RNC Reaches New, Horrifying Low

Posted by Steve Benen, Washington Monthly at 10:00 AM on August 27, 2009.

I was foolish enough to believe the RNC was incapable of surprising me. Live and learn.

'IT HAS BEEN SUGGESTED' BY WHOM?.... The Republican National Committee has sent out a "2009 Future of American Health Survey." Question #4 reads:

"It has been suggested that the government could use voter registration to determine a person's political affiliation, prompting fears that GOP voters might be discriminated against for medical treatment in a Democrat-imposed health care rationing system. Does this possibility concern you?"

Two quick thoughts. First, this is hopelessly insane.

Second, I was foolish enough to believe the RNC was incapable of surprising me. Live and learn

2. They keep accusing the Dems of stuff they did under Bush
I just take this question as an admission that they checked voter registration in determining government benefits.

They keep digging their hole deeper and deeper. I'm surprised they haven't reached China by now.

4. Let that be, yet again, a lesson to those who make a fetish out of bipartisanship
So many folks expressed the hope yesterday, including Vice President Biden, that the death of Sen. Kennedy might herald a new spirit of comity between the parties, particularly as it pertains to the ongoing negotiations over a health care bill. This is the kind of people Democrats are dealing with; how do you compromise with this kind of out-and-out lunacy without going insane yourself?

There is no middle ground between a reasonable proposal and this nonsense from the Republican National Committee. The difference between 1 and 100 is 99. The difference between 1 and infinity is infinity, the same as the difference between 100 and infinity.

21. Exactly so!
No matter how low they get, they can always go lower. They are endlessly creative in that regard.

8. doesn't this sound like something the GOP would do/.
Sometimes their paranoid/fear infused bullshit tells way more about the authors than anything else. I think this is a very good example of how Republics would structure their health care program, if they were inclined to do anything beneficial for anyone other than their cronies.

13. What's really crazy is people will believe this crap
The RNC are total scum bags. But what really bothers me is a large part of our electorate is incredibly stupid and incapable of rational thought.

Absolutely anything! As long as it supports their fears and hatreds. Zero ability to detect BS. Zero conscience, zero decency. But oh so Christian and oh so patriotic. They make me sick.

15. What we should do now is take notes, and assume the RNC has been doing everything they accuse Obama
of doing. Projection is a powerful defense mechanism. The R's are showing their hand by assuming their enemies are just like them.

22. Well let me see, it seems that every thing they accuse others of
They ARE doing or want to do or are planning to do.
They tampered with elections, but pointed at ACORN who had done nothing wrong. When they get obvious or suspect voter registration applications they put them in a separate pile and mark them so. The rpigs just drop dems off by the thousands and claim they were felons. 360,000 some in Fla in 2000, then they shredded ballots too, that was just Florida. Oh and the Brooks Brothers Rioters who all later went to work for ( * ).

24. I got one--I reamed them 17 new ones, told them they were crazy liars--then
scanned it with my answers, took out my id info, loaded the metered envelope with additional papers to cost them more money and sent it.

Why did I get one? I registered briefly as a Repug to vote for Dan Quayle in a primary--that was long before bush the lesser. Who would ever think they could find someone stupider than Quayle to run for president--no wonder they had to steal both elections.
