Rex Rammell, Idaho GOPer, Jokes About Hunting Obama-? about Obama Hunting Tags
Edited on Thu Aug-27-09 05:12 PM by RamboLiberal
BOISE, Idaho — An Idaho Republican gubernatorial hopeful insists he was joking when he said he'd buy a license to hunt President Barack Obama.

Rammell, a former elk rancher slated to run against incumbent C.L. "Butch" Otter in the May 2010 GOP primary, made the comment at a Republican rally Tuesday in Twin Falls.

Talk at the meeting turned to the state's planned wolf hunt, for which hunters must purchase an $11.50 wolf tag. When an audience member shouted a question about "Obama tags," Rammell responded, "The Obama tags? We'd buy some of those."

Rammell told the Times-News newspaper the comment was "just a joke."

He said, "I would never support him being assassinated."

After an audience member shouted a question about "Obama tags" during a discussion on wolves, Rammell responded, "The Obama tags? We'd buy some of those."

Rammell, a veterinarian and former elk rancher from Idaho Falls, said his comment was a joke and he would never seriously talk about President Obama that way, although he doesn't support anything Obama's done as president.

"I was just being sarcastic. That was just a joke," Rammell said. "I would never support him being assassinated.

"She kind of caught me off guard, to be honest with you."

Rammell tells the Times-News that it was a joke. But Rammell also sent Hopkins' story around to his media distribution list this morning.

Also of obstructing the police when his elk escaped.

3. On a positive note
One Republican is now on record as being anti-assassination.

"I would never support him being assassinated."

That's good, right?

5. Mormon Tea-bagger Rex Rammell...
Former veterinarian, former elk rancher, former independent candidate for the Senate, now turned radical right wing republican is a vapid joke. He seems to have deep pockets and a shallow mind. He rides his horse wearing his "Rex the Republican" hand tooled chaps followed by a big ass shrink wrapped motor home in as many podunk parades as he can find here in the state of Idaho. This piece of shit needs to be stopped before he starts.

Punk ass light weight dumb fuck.

7. "I would never support him being assassinated."
"Now, if he slipped on the floor of Joe Scarborough's office, or went hunting with Dick Cheney, well, those would just be acts of God."

13. I know -- his language is seriously weird: "not support?" How about condemn? Find reprehensible?
It's like he's talking about whether or not to vote for something. Not a disgusting, unforgivable act against the president and the country.

9. Rammell sorry if people misread 'Obama tags' remark
BOISE -- Rex Rammell, Republican candidate for Idaho governor, says his comments about "Obama tags" are not a big deal, but he apologizes if people think he wants the president assassinated.

The Twin Falls Times News reports that during during a discussion on wolves Tuesday night at a local Republican party event, an audience member shouted a question about "Obama tags."

-----

"I was just being sarcastic. That was just a joke," Rammell told the paper. "I would never support him being assassinated. "She kind of caught me off guard, to be honest with you."

But when CBS 2 talked with Rammell, he said the paper got his words wrong.
"The comment didn't come from me," Rammell said. "A woman asked about Obama tags and I just joked back..." that you'd buy some, we asked? -- "Yes. No, that we could sell some. They misquoted me."

The Times News, however, sticks by its Rammel quote.

Nobody we talked to found kidding about hunting tags for the president of the united states very humorous, and Rammell told CBS 2: "If people read into my comments I would want him assassinated then I apologize for that. That was not the intent of my comment."

http://www.2news.tv/news/local/55482562.html

Amazing how these comments go right over Repukes heads - like Grassley calling the guy who said he was a Right Wing Terrorist a Great American. IMHO the Repukes would actually secretly like to see something bad happen to Obama.
