Bush condemns Green Zone attack -- (Defends fighting 'em over there)
By DEB RIECHMANN, Associated Press Writer 1 hour, 4 minutes ago

WASHINGTON -
President Bush condemned Thursday's attack on
Iraq's parliament building inside the heavily fortified Green Zone and said the U.S. must continue to help the Baghdad government reconcile the nation.

The president said the attack was against a symbol of democracy — the Iraqi assembly that represents millions of people who voted in recent elections.

"There is a type of person that would walk in that building and kill innocent life and that is the same type of person that is willing to come and kill innocent Americans,"
Bush said in the Roosevelt Room after meeting with educational leaders. "And it is in our interest to help this young democracy be in a position so it can sustain itself and govern itself and defend itself against these extremists and radicals."

Bush met Thursday with Sens. John McCain (news, bio, voting record), R-Ariz., and Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., who recently visited Iraq.

"My message to the Iraqi government is `We stand with you as you take the steps necessary to not only reconcile politically, but also put a security force in place that is able to deal with these kinds of people,'" Bush said.

1. "Fighting 'em over there" - he'd better watch out, it sounds a lot like
"Bring it on".

4. Tell me about it
It's the asinine, backward logic that gets to me the most. Then there's the fact that he's ignoring the part our presence plays in this quagmire, just so he can project himself as riding a mighty white steed out to save a faux democracy.

5. the lack of logic is astounding. Think this through Boy George... what's keeping them from coming
Edited on Thu Apr-12-07 06:35 PM by Danieljay
here now? Are they too busy? Can't get a flight? Out of suicide vests? Just what, exactly, IS keeping them from coming over here?

Seems to me, this is the perfect opportunity to strike us 'here'. Homeland security is a farce. All our national guard troops are in Iraq. All our financial resources have been diverted to support an illegal occupation. Terror alert is low, and everyone is home watching American Idol, fighting about Imus, or trying to figure out the father of Anna Nicholes baby.

By the way, just who is left here to protect us anyway? Blackwater? Chilling.

7. This has been my point for years!
I've posted this until my fingers ache. There are thousands of fanatical people who would love to attack us. What better time than when we are vulnerable. No NG, no port security. You mean, they couldn't spare 10 guys to come over here and do something? Oh, right, dumbass sez we got 'em all tied up "over there". The spin from the right is "we keep getting their number 2 and 3, so al Queda is in disarray." BS. They've got money and motivation. And they've developed into smaller units, they don't need direction from 1 or 2 leaders.
