Wednesday Morning, May 30,1984 -- The San Diego Union
Found an old newspaper while cleaning today, so climb into the Wayback Machine for a little taste of the past.

"Iran vows to fight any intervention" is the headline followed by "Warning to US follows missile shipment to Saudis. Iran vowed yesterday to "resist and fight" any American military intervention in the Persian Gulf."
In other news, Reagan is denouncing the Soviet-led boycott of the Olympic Games; Gary Hart and Walter Mondale kick off their California campaigns, and the DeLorean case is in full swing.

Locally, San Diego's right-wing mayor Roger Hedgecock is suing the Union for saying bad things about him and his business partner J. David Dominelli is under investigation. (The bad things will turn out to be true, Dominelli will go to jail, Hedgecock will get off on a technicality and go from politics to hosting a talk radio show, sometimes subbing in for Rush Limbaugh.)

But the ads are the best. A 12-pack of Hamms is $2.99 and a 25-inch console color TV is $740 (only $700 without the remote) and that new VCR is going take about $400 out of your paycheck. The Dow sits at 1100 and passbook savings accounts pay close to 10%. And that brand new Compaq PORTABLE computer with a 10MB INTERNAL disc is on sale for just $3795! Folks, that is $1200 off its regular price of $4995!!! It comes with 128kb of RAM and is upgradeable to a whopping 640kb! Hurry! This offer expires 6-14-84!
