Authorities say Justin Humphreys, 24, of 115 S. Cherry St., will face possession of heroin in initial charges after they found the balloons, along with a syringe, protruding from Humphreys’ rectum.
Humphreys was arrested Aug. 19 during a routine traffic stop while he was a passenger in a car traveling on U.S. 33 in Union County, said Union County Assistant Prosecutor Rick Roger. A deputy stopped the car after it followed the car in front of it too closely.
The two men seemed to be nervous after they were stopped, said Roger.
As the officer talked with the pair, the driver, who was not identified and is not expected to face charges in the incident, told the deputy Humphreys had heroin containers in his body.
