A message to the Blue Dog "moderates" in the Senate.
Edited on Thu Aug-27-09 10:16 AM by kentuck
Please think twice before you vote against a public option or against healthcare reform in general. Liberal Democrats are in no mood to coddle you this time around. They will withhold their vote. If you think you can win without the base of the Democratic Party, then go ahead. I doubt that it can be done. This is not a warning. This is only a word of caution. Democrats will not pull you through anymore. Just because you have a "D" behind your name will not automatically get the liberal vote. Play this game again at your own risk. If you are up for re-election, think twice.

1. Why Isn't It A Warning?
Quid pro quo should definitely apply here. You stiff us we'll stiff you. Couldn't be simpler.

4. Why call them "moderates."
They are NOT moderates. They are corporatists.

7. Too bad for you that the reverse is also true
Liberal Democrats cannot win without the moderate base of the Democratic Party. So how about we all respect both of these things and come up with healthcare reform that we ALL agree upon?

9. No it is too bad for America
These guys care more for their contributors than they do for their country. Eighty percent polled believe our current Health Care needs fixing. The Blue Dogs or Moderates as you would call them believe Health care should be a Profitable business. IMO that is an immoral idea and not for the betterment of the American people..Do you believe Health Care should be a profitable business?

12. 80% support for a public option.
Stop acting as if these traitors are doing anything but serving themselves and the private insurance industry.

At least I hope it's an act... it'd be sad if you were intentionally helping spread the M$M's lies.

13. I'm just saying...
the yellow dogs will not vote for the blue dogs this time around. It is a two-way street. They never vote for us. They think they don't have to. It's good enough just to have that "D" by their name, they think. Personally, I would prefer a liberal Republican with a big "R" behind their name than Blue Dog with a big "D" behind their name. At least, one of them would have some principles.

18. " They never vote for us. They think they don't have to."
That is exactly what they believe. When they first ran for public office, they needed our votes, now they refuse to dance with them that brought them...They vote the way they do because they fear losing their Republican votes....Somtimes reminding them of the facts helps. I know one Congressman who was once a progressive, began voting with the rupukes even joined the DLC...when he realized he was losing some of his base had his name removed fromthe DLC list..now he went back the other way.

Our state house went republican in the last election and now lines will be redrawn by the rethugs...Chances are very good he will be out in the cold come next election because. why would the Rebugs want a Blue Dog when they can elect one of their own.

15. Respect?
70% of the country wants the public option, how about respecting the will of the country? Furthermore, the blue dogs have, as a group, been the biggest recipient of insurance money.

17. Ah
So, as usual we have to give up the very vision and inspiration we use to entice voters to secure the votes of "the moderates"?

Let me tell you something that you probably ought to know by now. There are no moderates. There are only issues. There are issues people care about and issues they do not. There are issues that will win you an election and issues that will destroy you.

"Moderate" is merely a zeitgesit of all the flurrying static of issues that are in the public consciousness and the tipping point as imagined in a mental object that has a nichomachean mean propped on it.

Healthcare is an issue. Protecting the insurance companies is not. Providing the former for all americans and making it affordable will get you elected. Ensuring the protection of the later will not.

8. I also read today that Reid said "EFCA is off the radar".
If they screw up real HCR and EFCA I will withold my votes. Tired of being taken for granted.

16. Reid is off the radar.
If he thinks his "moderation" is going to keep his seat, he is mistaken. He will be the first to be sent home.
