Scarborough calls Ted Kennedy a garish Irish pol and bumbling.
I made the mistake of tuning into MJ this morning. As usual it only took five minutes to piss me off and send me to the goofballs at CNN. Joe was doing his usual "I have so much respect for...." while he insults whomever or whatever he is refering to.

5. Wow! Yet another thread started on why we should not watch Scarborough. NEWFLASH!!!....
Most of us don't watch him, will never watch him, and we don't need multiple updates every hour reaffirming our decision to tune him out.

6. I don't like to defend Scarborough
but I think he was looking for the word "gregarious". He did say that "garish" wasn't the right word.

20. Don't get me wrong, the guy often infuritates me.
I just think that accuracy is important. I heard this and he obviously was attempting a compliment and didn't mean "garish".

7. I don't expect anyone to have any class when anyone dies. After being on DU
Edited on Thu Aug-27-09 07:28 AM by xultar
and seeing what people post about people after they die I often wondered how thin skinned DU would be when someone we love dies.
After seeing all the shit posted about Michael Jackson here I don't think anyone has any right to be thin skinned.

I must be naive but I always thought Liberals had heart and really cared, kinda like Kennedy. After seeing shit posted when people on the Right die I had to question what I thought Liberals were all about. But I guess now after thinking about it I've found the difference between Liberals and Progressives.

17. And the knee-jerk justifiers of the hypocrisy will say "well, our guys do good so it's different"
Somehow I think that people on the opposite side of the spectrum say the same thing - "well, our guys do good so it's different" - when it comes to defending callous remarks about someone dying.

To a certain extent it would be nice if people on both sides could follow Kennedy's lead as far as being able to disagree with people and still have some sort of personal connection to them socially.

23. Oh man do I have to agree with you on that so strongly
I'd even say forget what they said about Michael, even what they said about his family was often vile. And in my view hugely racist. There are people on DU I can no longer read because of that stuff.
Michael was a Democrat, he did much good, and he donated quietly to Democrats. The song that wound up being his last ever invokes MLK Jr and FDR, by name. The song is about media and government lies. His last words were "all I want to say is that they don't really care about us." This was a message he gave to millions of people, and it is a truth.
If Mike had been white, people would have noticed what he was singing about. Who sings about FDR? He did. And Democrats did not even notice, because the media told them not to. But the media, they don't really care about us. As a good Democrat once told us, in a most entertaining manner.

30. Are you equating people like Strom Thurmond and Ted Kennedy?
Edited on Thu Aug-27-09 04:37 PM by tabasco
Newsflash, genius: Some people deserve scorn and others deserve respect.

I know you can grasp it if you try really hard! You can do it!

Oh, one more thing. If you don't like it here, go away.

10. I have no idea why I keep reading Scarborough threads at GD at this time of day
I always watch Robin Meade Morning Express on HLN. She's not in today but it's a good show. Not a lot of chit-chat, they get through a lot of news quickly. They do repeat some headlines or stories over but it certainly is the best show IMO at this time. It may not be the greatest but it's miles better then Morning Joe.

12. he keeps using Kennedy against Obama
like "Kennedy said the dream lives on, but does it really...Obama has seen just how CONSERVATIVE the country really is and how far they are willing to go these past 9 months, and they are all saying SLOW DOWN!" Never mind the amount of lies about health care reform that the ignorant fucks are believing.

MSNBC did what any business would do in that case. They went with the person who was going to make them more money.

24. There is a political strategy: Never let the Democrats have any
strong significant leaders. Liberalism is the better philosophy
for American People and Conservatism is better philospophy for
Business. Therefore, Conservatives can never let any Democrat
appear significant and strong. Forgiveness is not natural to them
they have to work at it. Committed to man's fallen nature and
not big on redemption

Never let any Democrat get a stronghold on the American Imagination.
This threatens Conservatism.

I am surptrised there was not more dredging up the past by GOP than
there was.
