I can say one good thing about one of the Bushes. As a Texas congressman, George H. W. Bush vigorously supported Planned Parenthood. It is my hope that the Bushes will henceforth look to his early example and avail themselves of Planned Parenthood's services to the max.

That's why I added the qualification "his early example": to be accurate while not spoiling a bit of acerbic humor with dry explanation. He backtracked on support of Planned Parenthood during the 1980 presidential primaries, where he competed against Reagan, and in his own term as president took a very hard line on abortion, imposing a gag rule on Planned Parenthood, forbidding them from offering abortion counselling, and refusing to protect access to clinics. I suspect his despicable hard-right stance on abortion was just cynical, along with his silly claim that he'd been born again. He was inclined to be a reasonable, mild Episcopalian, but sold his soul to the fundies for political advancement.
