Police Search For Man Accused Of Stealing Money
ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. -- A gunman who robbed an Altamonte Springs convenient store on Saturday apologized at least twice to an employee during the robbery and called 911 on the clerk's behalf after she said she was having chest pains, according to police.
The gunman entered Kangaroo Express, located at 551 W. SR 436, at about 6:30 a.m., pointed a gun at the store clerk and demanded money from the cash register, according to an Altamonte Springs police report.
The woman complied and then told the assailant that she was having chest pains, police said. The gunman walked behind the counter, attempted to comfort the clerk, apologized for committing the robbery, and called 911 to get medical assistance for her, according to the report.
During the phone call, a witness entered the store and heard the clerk talking to the 911 dispatcher, police said. The person assisted the clerk by talking to the 911 dispatcher on behalf of the clerk, according to the report.
The gunman approached the witness, ordering him into the beverage cooler, Altamonte Springs police said.
The culprit attempted to open the store's safe but was unsuccessful and apologized to the clerk before exiting the store, the report said.
