Again this is all from Ft Lewis - but I am sure all the bases have similar programs - I am skipping the other parts of the email they sent. I think these parts may be helpful to some.

SUBJECT: Access to Behavioral Health Services

1. Madigan Army Medical Center is currently increasing awareness and preparedness of its personnel to flexibly provide additional services throughout the Behavioral Health continuum.

2. Behavioral health resources for Soldiers can be accessed through the Department of Psychology’s Soldier Readiness Service at Old Madigan, Building 9924B. No appointment is necessary, with walk-in hours available from M-F, 0800-1400. Call (253) 968-5140 for additional information.

3. Behavioral health resources for Spouses can be accessed through the Department of Social Work’s Preventive Intervention Program, which offers services on a walk-in basis as well as by appointment. This includes:
Couples and Family Counseling, (253) 968-4159.
Counseling related to deployment issues (253) 968-4159.
Beginning 15 June 2007, the Department of Psychology will staff the Family Assessment for Maintaining Excellence Program (FAME) with walk-in access to behavioral health assessment and consultation available for all spouses.

4. Behavioral health resources for children can be accessed through the Department of Psychology’s Child and Family Services by calling (253) 968-2700 or through the child’s Primary Care Manager, who can coordinate a referral to Child and Family Services or the Department of Psychiatry’s Child Guidance Clinic.

5. TRICARE Behavioral Health Benefit for Civilian Network Care: If you are enrolled in TRICARE Prime, family members can receive the first eight behavioral health outpatient visits from a TRICARE network provider without a referral from your primary care manager (PCM). (After those 1st eight visits, the network provider must request authorization for additional care from your PCM.)

* For assistance in finding a network behavioral health provider you may contact TriWest at 1-888-874-9378. You may also find your own provider by going online at www.triwest.com and performing a search under “find a provider” to obtain information on network mental health providers in your area.

6. To make a non-emergency behavioral health services appointment call the TRICARE Regional Appointment Center (TRAC) at 800 404-4506 between the hours of 0700 and 1800, M-F.

7. Emergency/Immediate Care: If you have a mental health emergency, report to the nearest Emergency Room or call 911. The MAMC emergency room telephone number is (253) 968-1400.
