Kraft Foods pulls ads from the Glenn Beck Show

Posted by FoxNewsBoycott on Monday, August 24th, 2009

Filed under Fox News| Glenn Beck

Kraft Foods is one of many companies to pull their ads from Glenn Beck’s show on Fox News recently. Here is a visitor-submitted response received from Kraft regarding their decision.

In recent years, there has been a proliferation of shows with extreme content, including on the political front. These shows often are controversial and do not align with our company or brand values. We do not want to become associated with controversy simply because of the placement of a 30-second spot. That’s why we have made the decision to stop advertising on the more politically extreme programs, including The Glenn Beck Show, on all networks.

If you haven’t done so already, please add our site to your favorites and visit us again soon!

Associate Director, Consumer Relations

8. Don't fool yourself... he isn't going anywhere....

He'll use this to play the victim card.

...and he'll find right-wing organizations and corporations to advertise on his show. Guaranteed.

14. Well, a large part of his job...
...is to ensure that Rupert Murdoch gets richer every day. I think it's possible for Beck to fuck that up enough that he'll be replaced.

You are correct, and that's fine by me if they spend their money that way. That means less for lobbyists, Palin type candidates, and their shills traveling around the country pretending to be concerned Amurkins.

2. Letter from LL Bean

Visitor submitted response from L.L. Bean:

From: L.L. Bean Public Affairs – publicaffairs@llbean.com
Sent: Wednesday, August 19, 2009 1:20 PM
Subject: L.L.Bean

Dear Sir/Madame,

Thank you for contacting L.L.Bean with your concerns regarding our advertising on Fox.

L.L.Bean does very limited television advertising and we instruct network and cable stations to show our commercials at a time when a large number of people may see it. Viewers should not assume that L.L.Bean endorses or opposes a specific view expressed by Fox or any other station.

To reach a broad audience we run commercials on all the major networks (ABC, NBC, FOX, CBS, etc.) and cable channels (BRAVO, CNN, Weather Channel, etc.).

It has always been L.L.Bean’s mission to provide information to our customers on our products and services while recognizing a responsibility to, and a deep respect for, all of our customer groups. We are very concerned that you felt compelled to write to us on this issue and hope that the information I have provided gives you a better understanding of our television advertising criteria.

Again, thank you for taking the time to contact us. You are a valued customer and your opinion is very important to us.

Sincerely,
Carolyn Beem
Manager, Public Affairs

Isn’t it nice that they instruct us to “not assume that L.L.Bean endorses or opposes a specific view expressed by Fox or any other station.” Obviously, they do endorse FNC views by spending part of their advertising budget there. Keep up the pressure. Here is L.L. Bean’s contact information:

3. Here's One From SC Johnson -
Thank you for sharing your concerns as there is some potentially misleading information on the web about this topic.

SC Johnson has not pulled or cancelled advertising for the Glenn Beck show, as we never directed our advertising to this particular program. In general, our goal is to provide good, informative ads and we select those programs and/or networks that make the most sense given our consumer base.

Regards,

Jill

9. Dear L.L. Bean
Want you to know that I decided to no longer buy your product and that has nothing to do with the quality of your product. You have the right to use your ad money any way you wish, just as I can use my money to protest your support of FOX TV.

13. LLBean's products have gone to hell IMO
so their advertising is pretty much a non issue for me. I heard their business is not doing very good either.

You'd think they'd wake up and pull any ads being ran on Faux. If they don't they are the victim of their own stupidity.

24. of course I remember that
in fact I still have a sweater/jacket made from a Hudson Bay blanket that I bought in 1986 or so from LL Bean along with a beautiful Chief Joseph blanket made by Pendleton.

Items like these are distant Made in America memories. Everything else they make is made somewhere else (mostly China). I bought a 2 pair of pants on sale from them not long ago. Both pair were to be identical (size, etc.) yet one pair fit and the other did not and I had to return them for a refund; they were made in Macau.

I see that LL Bean is likely losing a lot of $$$ because the quality of their products has gone to hell and as for Made in America, what is that they ask? :(

I've been a customer for YEARS and never heard one media commercial.

But then, I don't watch a lot of TV, so...
