Got this from my Freeper MIL while I was away. Do we have anything
here on DU or any other place that disects this line by line? I've been away from the puter for about 2 wks and came home to this email from my MIL and my BP is boiling. I'm going to poke around, but I thought there might be something out there that already disects this crap. Here is just a small portion of it, supposedly sent to Senator Bayh from a Stephen Fraser MD:

" PLEASE..... read the part where they want access to your bank accounts...and the right to withdraw from it...
Oh yes the people that will be getting your information will be ACORN, AND AMERICORPS MEMBERS...

Page 30 Sec 123 of HC bill - THERE WILL BE A GOVT COMMITTEE that decides what treatments/benefits you get.

1. Here:
http://edlabor.house.gov/blog/2009/08/health-care-checkup-a-line-by-.shtml

Pg 22 of the HC Bill MANDATES the Govt will audit the books of ALL EMPLOYERS that self insure!!

* Page 22 of H.R. 3200 requests a study, not an audit, of the effects to which rating rules are likely to cause adverse selection in the large group market and employer self insurance market insurance market. This does not require an audit of ALL employers that self insure

Pg 30 Sec 123 of HC bill - THERE WILL BE A GOVT COMMITTEE that decides what treatments/benes u get

* Nothing in the bill infringes upon you and your doctor’s ability to make medical decisions. The National Health Benefits Advisory Council is not a “government committee” but is made up of providers, consumer representatives, employers, labor, health insurance issuers, independent experts and representatives of government agencies. They will make recommendations about minimum standards of care and covered benefits that insurance companies have to offer- ensuring that everyone has a health plan that provides them with adequate coverage.

Pg 29 lines 4-16 in the HC bill - YOUR HEALTHCARE IS RATIONED!!!

* This is a misreading of the text. This section limits the amount of out-of-pocket costs you will face to $5,000 for an individual and $10,000 (indexed to CPI) for a family for a basic package of care. This ensures you have access to affordable care and won’t go bankrupt paying for it.

Pg 42 of HC Bill - The Health Choices Commissioner will choose UR HC Benefits 4 you. U have no choice!

* The Health Choices Commissioner is charged with ensuring insurance plans are meeting regulations and minimum standards as well as administering affordability credits and monitoring the exchange. Nothing in this section or in the larger bill permits the Health Choices Commissioner to choose your benefits for you

PG 50 Section 152 in HC bill - HC will be provided 2 ALL non US citizens, illegal or otherwise

* This is blatantly false. This section prohibits insurance companies from discriminating against persons when issuing coverage, and has nothing to do with government subsidized coverage to illegal immigrants. The bill explicitly states that no Federal payments will be used for affordability credits for illegal immigrants. (P. 143, sec. 246).

Pg 58HC Bill - Govt will have real-time access 2 individuals' finances & a National ID Healthcard will be issued!

* This section says nothing about a National ID health card, or accessing your personal financial information. This section promotes administrative simplification- for example being able to look up your insurance coverage and determine how much you will pay and which provider your insurance will accept, at the point of service. This saves money and gives you, the consumer, information about what you will owe at the front end, rather than being denied or getting a surprise bill from your insurance company weeks after your treatment.

Pg 59 HC Bill lines 21-24 Govt will have direct access 2 ur banks accts 4 elect. funds transfer

* This section encourages the development of standards to encourage electronic payments between providers and insurance companies. Administrative simplification measures like these save billions of dollars. Nothing will give the government access to your bank account.

PG 65 Sec 164 is a payoff subsidized plan 4 retirees and their families in Unions & community orgs (ACORN).

* This section provides a limited reimbursement for participating employment-based private plans for part of the cost of providing health benefits to retirees (age 55-64) and their families. People who have been forced into early retirement in this age group do not qualify for Medicare and this will help them stay on their employer provided, private insurance plan if their employer wants to participate. Participation is voluntary. This is for all early retirees, and no language targets the provision towards unions or acorn.

Pg 72 Lines 8-14 Govt is creating an HC Exchange 2 bring priv HC plans under Govt control.

* The bill imposes new regulations on private health care plans that will force them to end unethical practices such as rescissions or denying coverage based on pre-existing conditions. The Exchange will improve the quality of coverage and increase the affordability of private insurers in the Exchange.

PG 84 Sec 203 HC bill - Govt mandates ALL benefit pkgs 4 priv. HC plans in the Exchange

* Insurance companies in the Exchange will have to offer a basic benefit packages in every service area. This package will include basic care such as hospitalization, physician visits, medical equipment, mental health, preventative care, maternity and well baby care, and drugs – services that anyone would expect a real insurance policy to cover. Private insurers may offer a higher tier of coverage with more benefits that are not mandated by the government if they choose.

PG 85 Line 7 HC Bill - Specs for of Benefit Levels for Plans = The Govt will ration ur Healthcare!

* No, this determines the minimum standards insurance companies must offer coverage for- it has nothing to do with rationing. Private plans can offer extra benefits like dental or vision coverage for adults, or other non-covered benefits that are not included in the basic level plan.

PG 91 Lines 4-7 HC Bill - Govt mandates linguistic approp svcs. Example - Translation 4 illegal aliens

* The bill requires plans in the Exchange to offer culturally and linguistic appropriate services. The U.S. is a diverse country culturally and linguistically. Many legal residents and citizens of the U.S. speak other languages, and implying that everyone of a different culture in the U.S. is here illegally is intolerant and incorrect. The bill explicitly states that it will not subsidize coverage for illegal immigrants. (P. 143, sec. 246). .....

6. Similar to a LTTE in my paper yesterday...
Tries to pick out single lines of the bill and twists them into something negative...

Will you be able to Keep your insurance? Don't count on it

I saw Rep. Christopher Murphy, D-5th District, several weeks ago on C-SPAN's "Washington Journal." That was when congressmen had not read — have they yet? — the 1,017-page H.R. 3200, though they voted for it.

His explanation was straight Barack Obama. "If you like your health-care insurance, you can keep it."

Probably not. H.R. 3200, page 16, Section 102, outlaws private insurance by forbidding enrollment after H.R. 3200 is passed into law, when people with private insurance unacceptable to the law will be dumped — no choice — into the government-run public option.

Whether Rep. Murphy read H.R. 3200 before speaking to the 250 Heritage Village seniors on Aug. 8, at a meeting arranged by the Southbury Democratic Party, is not clear from news accounts.

Rep. Murphy erred in stating illegal immigrants are not included in the bill. Yes, they are. See Section 152, pp. 50-51: Health Care will be provided to all non-U.S. citizens. (My references are from www.lc.org.) It was settled in the SCHIP law passed this year that they don't have to prove they are U.S. citizens.

If Rep. Murphy has read H.R. 3200, he should have seen many provisions discarding the elderly, who are the hardest hit. Medicare, which covers the elderly, would lose $500 billion to $550 billion in funding that is needed to enroll "47 million" new uninsured people in Medicaid.

Where will the half-trillion in cuts be made? Less spending on patient care, fewer expensive operations (the elderly are "too old" to justify the cost), less reimbursement to hospitals and doctors (already quitting because insufficiently reimbursed), less on specialists in lieu of primary-care physicians, fewer of the latest specialty medicines. And a painkiller pill in lieu of the hip operation: Obama's explanation.

A health commissioner would choose your benefits for you, according to p. 142, Section 142. Government would have access to your bank accounts for electronic-funds transfer, according to p. 59, Section 163. Government is creating a health-care "exchange" to bring private (insurance) plans under government control, on p. 72, Section 201.

The word "euthanasia" does not appear, but the spirit is there. There are "several end-of-life" provisions. Mandatory end-of-life counseling for anyone over 65, Section 1233 E & F, p. 426-433, says every five years, everyone older than 65 will confer with an end-of-life counselor. Obama says it will save thousands of dollars. (For whom? How?)

"Advance Care Planning Consultation," p. 429, Section 233. Government will specify which doctors can write end-of-life orders. (What does that mean?)

I have not heard whether Rep. Murphy is planning more meetings in the district.

9. You can recommend that people go online and read the bill
for themselves.Anyone can state that a section of the bill states this or that. Ask him why we should believe any of this, if he doesn't print the actual words form the bill.

10. Pick one item, and drill it
Nail it with no room for equivocation or misunderstanding; practically any of them will do. Then, after you do, ask your mother-in-law why she is so eagerly spreading falsehoods, in direct opposition to the Bible (I presume she's conversant with some of its main tenets)? Because if the rest of her post is equivalent nonsense - and it is - perhaps she should spend more time plucking the beam out of her own eye before flyspecking other people's eyes for motes.

12. HC Bill? what's an HC bill?
Edited on Mon Aug-24-09 12:30 PM by haele
If this is one of the five bills going through committes in Congress, which one is it? Is what is in this e-mail from a draft alternative to someone's draft of their dream health-care bill that never made it to a House or Senate comittee? If it's a draft, is it even being considered? I have a dream health-care bill going through my imaginary congress, too. I can figure out how to download one of the many versions of bills out there, insert my own favorite wording at strategic points in that bill, then pass it around to show off to my e-mail buds as being one of the bills being considered...

Without identifying which bill it is - be it an HR (House resolution) or SR (Senate resolution) with at least three numbers - preferrably four - after it, it's just swamp-gas in a 1920 Florida land scam, for all we know.

There is no one "Health Care" bill being considered.

My husband got a variant of the same bill from a second cousin. He debunked it with this simple statement - I have plenty of time, but no idea which bill this is referencing. Have them direct me to the actual House or Senate bill, and I can tell you if the list you sent me is true or a load of corporate bull put out by the same insurance industries that own the Lewen group, another propoganda organization claiming to be a "non-biased" evaluator of the medical industry.

17. Last summer I blocked my Repub SIL after she pushed me over the edge
with forwarded (and easily debunked) e-mail crap about Obama. The problem, even if you debunk it to your MIL, is that she's already sent it to her entire e-mail list. Just wait 'till you hit reply all to debunk
one of these things. Your MIL's nutcase friends will crawl out of the computer to attack you for daring
to set your MIL straight and daring to send them anything that interferes with their God given right
to be secure in right wing drivel.

It's a losing battle, my friend. I'd either ignore it or set your e-mail to block your MIL.
Let her e-mail your spouse and your spouse can inform you of anything important.
