Just Got Back From D.C.
wow. I shouldn't be shocked but I am. FOX news covered the 15-20 pro-war people? Are you fucking kidding me!?!? Also, there was NO WAY that there were less than 100,000 people there...there were people as far as you could see!! Screw the corporate media!

3. That method is what skews the numbers so much......
Edited on Sun Jan-28-07 09:19 AM by Ravy
That is why the media reports a dozen Freepers as numbering 50 or so. Freepers are *so* fucking dense......

4. basically the way it use to be 'measured'
you take an 'x' area, count the number of people in that area, then multiply it by the entire size occupied

so if there are 500 people in a 1/4 mile sq mile, and the group occupied a 1 sq mile area - you have an estimate of 2000 people

5. Thanks for BEING THERE! You spoke for me! You marched for me! And I
appreciate it!

"Numbers" mean nothing to me. I wouldn't care if it was just you there. Really. Protesting unjust war is a sacred act--whether by one, or by 500,000. It is something I place great value on, and when I can't do it myself, and someone else does, I feel greatly honored and connected. And of course they're lying about the numbers! They're getting skeert of the pitchforks, you know. People are hopping mad at this goddamned war and its goddamned thieving perps. It's threatening to bring down the whole scam of corporate rule. So they're trying to dampen the anger, make it seem like not such a big deal. But, boy, is it a big deal! I've never felt anything like the rumble in this country, not even during Vietnam. People like Sen. Warner don't scramble for cover, for no reason. The corporate rulers/war profiteers and their news monopolies are in serious shit, if they don't fix this. People are really and truly FED UP with the whole bunch of them and their skunk smell in our nation's capitol. Hundreds of millions of Americans were cheering you on! Thank you! THANK YOU!

6. It was the park police that said it was under 100,000.
Edited on Sun Jan-28-07 10:52 AM by Breeze54
They don't count anymore or so they say. I find that hard to believe.
They just don't report it because they don't want more and more massive protests!!
They don't have the man/woman power to control huge crowds.

Thanks for going!

I'm proud of you and everyone in the USA that were at the over 1,000 marches yesterday!

I'm going to send one of these to all my reps! ;)

9. Is there a difference between the park "police" and the park "service" ?
BayCityProgressive said records are no longer kept but I saw a program that "grids out" the open areas and can measure density pretty well.
Somebody keeps track and I think the police responsible for manning up crowd control must monitor.
Otherwise, they would be scapegoats if trouble broke out.
