4. That's Richard Thompson, the amazing British guitarist
(and Sufi Muslim convert)who was at one time the lead guitarist for Fairport Convention.

"Wall of Death" was a comic song of his from an album he did in the Seventies with his now ex-wife, Linda.

(the last clip is Thompson performing the song "Wall of Death" itself).

9. No...
They included "1952 Vincent Black Lightning", "Beeswing", "Dimming of the Day" and the song "Waltz of Death" itself, since it was referenced in the OP.

I was going to link to "Waltzing's for Dreamers", but thought four songs was probably enough.

16. You don't call me Sir, I work for a living
It's a little known fact that Stripes is one of Richard Thompson's all-time favorite movies.

20. So I have to go to a store and buy earphones and then go pay to use an Internet Cafe . .
All because people here think Youtube can do all the work for them instead of just explaining who the fuck Richard Thompson is.

21. Look, when I first responded to you, I didn't KNOW you had a computer where YouTube was blocked
Edited on Fri Aug-21-09 11:42 PM by Ken Burch
OR that you didn't have earphones.

I wasn't trying to mess with you. I referenced YouTube because it appeared to be the easiest way to help you to pick up on what the guy's about. I'm on your side here, OK? Sorry for any bad feelings.

Here are some other suggestions:

You could also go to a cd/record(perhaps used cd and/or record) store that specialized in older music and they could tell you about Thompson and Fairport Convention and

BTW, if I may ask, is this computer on which YouTube is blocked at your home? or at work? If it's your home computer, somebody may be able to help you reset it so that you can receive YouTube. Another option would be using Google Video(which has non YouTube videos)to pull up Thompson's material or Fairport Convention material.

I can tell you that Thompson plays both acoustic and electric guitar, works in folk and rock idioms, and is known for his songwriting as well as his instrumental prowess(which is somewhat unusual, as people are generally known as great writers OR great players, but seldom as both.)

Thompson also has a webpage

http://www.richardthompson-music.com/

That will give you much more information AND almost all of his lyrics.

Is THAT better?
