can i get a little du love for a man fighting the swifties?
my alderman, a great grassroots dem, a deaniac, an officer in the dnc, a man who introduced a resolution in the chicago city council to impeach george bush- before it was cool, an antiwar organizer, and a 4 term great small d democratic leader, is in a fight for his political life.

Alderman alleges Swift Boat tie in local race
In new attack ads airing on Chicago TV stations, Ald. Joe Moore (49th) criticizes the major donor to challenger Don Gordon for his ties to Republicans.

Gordon's campaign has received $60,000 from Gold Coast mutual fund manager David Herro, who, according to federal records, gave $5,000 in 2004 to Swift Boat Vets and POWs for Truth. That group funded attack ads against Democratic presidential nominee John Kerry, a Vietnam War veteran.

Chicago ordinance takes on big-box retailers
City Council approves ordinance setting minimum wage for megastores
CHICAGO - Brushing aside warnings from Wal-Mart Stores Inc., the City Council in Chicago has approved an ordinance that makes the city the biggest in the nation to require big-box retailers to pay a “living wage.”

The ordinance, which passed 35-14 Wednesday after three hours of impassioned debate, requires mega-retailers to pay wages of at least $10 an hour plus $3 in fringe benefits by mid-2010. It would only apply to companies with more than $1 billion in annual sales and stores of at least 90,000 square feet.

although the ordinance passed, it was vetoed by the mayor. (who i like a lot, but who also got a juicy campaign contribution from the same swiftie moneybag.)

so, whaddya say du? can you all just give the man a high, hello, thanks for being on the front lines?? he really is a great leader, and is getting the full-on freeper treatment.

for those with a strong stomach, here is one of the local blogs that has been slinging exaggerated, and in some cases, completely made up shit-
