I think Imus got a raw deal!!!!111
After all, what he said wasn't any different from what you hear "gangsta rapper's" say EVERY DAY! Imus just made a BAD JOKE<<, hello!! People!!!! It is a COMMEDY show. Ever comedienne make's a bad joke now and then and even if he did, what about HIS freedom of speach?

IMOH, all you people did was take away the voice of someone who has helped many black children overcome cancer, there, are you happy??? Are you??? And what about those Rutger player's, once again you are feeding the VICTIM MENTALITY in this country, oh, everyone look at me, waah someone said something "wrong" to me!!! Let's call "Reverend" Al Sharpton so he can get some face time on TV!!!!11 Pathetic!!!!!

There, for those concerned, please feel free to copy and paste so you don't waste valuable typing time. You're welcome.

1. Whatever. Imus is made - he has his money, he can continue his charitible work.
He hurt himself - he is facing the consequences of his actions. Everything else is just blather in the echo machine.

35. stupid, sexist, anti-war cracker who
called Dick Cheney a War Criminal!!!!
And also said he should be hanged.
Imus' comments were offensive but what's new other than the fact that he messed with sport, a powerful university and some innocent women.
MSNBC, CBS and their advertisers found the perfect moment to remove him. It had nothing to do with those hanging comments. :sarcasm:

6. just a note:
I do things too that i wish i hadn't done, and let me tell you, i certainly had to suffer the consequences of my actions. Nobody came along and said 'Well, other people have also made mistakes like this and gotten away with it, so you should too.'

He screwed up big time, and now he is being made to pay for his error. Tuff noogies.

8. I know youre being sarcastic, and while I have no love for Imus, ...
... his comment was never really placed in context.

After he called the Rutger's women "rough hos" and "nappy headed hos" and compared them to the cute players on the other team. What was the difference between the two teams. I couldn't find professional team photos for both, but these will suffice.

If everything was going swimmingly for the administration, you would have never heard another word about this.

Much ado about very little, everyone repeating it hurt those players more than Imus originally saying it. They probably would have never even known about it without all the hype.

21. Imus can take his anti-women "jokes" and tell then to his young daughters---
Edited on Thu Apr-12-07 12:52 PM by terisan
You think that will be good for them? You think he refers to his wife or either/any of his daughters "little ho" ? He doesn't make fun of himself and he doesn't make fun of his family. Just other people who don't have a venue to fight back. He's a bully. Same as Giuliano, who calls other people names but whines if anyone criticizes his wife.

That's why what he said was so repulsive. Put it in context. Fair or not, it has become socially acceptable for African Americans to say the same thing Imus said.

Edited on Fri Apr-13-07 08:34 AM by cooolandrew
...but, his show influences politics and voters. Race is used as division it clearly effects democracy. It's better for all concerned in America that race is no longer used as a wedge issue. From this point the right will think twice before trying to influence voters by appealing to their hate. Remember the base of the Democratic party is african americans, if the left don't stand up for them then what is the party for. Although at this point the issue is over cooked admittedly.

People will argue first amendment rights but in the end that is to protect from government legislation. People have the free right to feel indignation at that free speech. Malloy put it good when he said that a lot of rap music is more an expression of struggle, but if the result of this is more politically correct rap music then all the better for America also. The Imus thing in final analysis will move America forward, once the dust settles.

38. Added to this Barack is of 2 races, as I am myself...
... and in this respect it gives you the insight to see how both sides get it wrong. As leader he would be the ideal conduit to unite America and move it forward in a way never seen before.

The millenium starts in 2008 Barack Obama.
