During his second campaign, from January 2008 and August 2008, the sheriff had 162 conversations with Spence. The conversations lasted anywhere from 1 minute to 94 minutes, sometimes as early as 5:40 a.m. and as late as midnight. There were days Spence was the first person the sheriff spoke to in the morning, and the last person he spoke to at night.
