Senate Chairmanships need to be earned not inherited - no to Public Option - no chairmanship
Edited on Tue Aug-18-09 12:36 AM by grantcart
There should be a bar, not particularly high but a bar nevertheless that Senators must pass.

Senators from more conservative states are not worried about re-election but they will give everything for their Chairmanships. It is by being chairperson that they control the flow of legislation and it fills their money bag.

Let us make this real simple. If you don't support Public Option, fine you are a great budget hawk and all of the other bullshit but you can't have a committee, you go back to the end of the line.

Public Option isn't what we are for its who we are.

If Senator Dorgan from North Dakota can support Public Option then all of them can.

Send an email to these Senators and let them know that you will be joining others to have them lose their chairmanship if they sabotage Public Option, that opposition to the Public Option will cost them their beloved Chairmanship.

Bayh isn't a Chairperson but he is on the Armed Services Committe and he should be moved to the committee on Printing

Remember what Obama said, real change has to come from the bottom.

4. You know that in my fragile psychiatric condition it is a miracle that I can
engage the on button with the computer let alone spell correctly.

Was there something in particular that you wanted to bitch about?

5. This is why we need term limits
It is time for governing to be returned to the CITIZENRY instead of professional politicians that are up for sale to the highest bidder.

This is one reason why the South has so much more political power. They keep re-electing the same good ol' boys (and girls, think Kay Bailey Hutchison) who rack up seniority and then dominate committees.

If we had term limits, people would earn chairmanships based on merit and not simple seniority. Plus, the average person might get a voice in congress, for a change.

8. You're welcome Grant. I've even written to the WH suggesting they push for such.
Why the heck should "D's" working against the will of the party receive chairmanships?

10. Vote for cloture with your party or lose your seats on all committees.
